People need to hear the "new" Journey...not just Journey w/JSS singing the hits. I hope they continue with new material in the future shows....they HAVE to stand behind it. They never really did with Steve. Journey cannot make the same mistake again...

Maybe I'm just impatient...but there's a a surprising mood of apathy on this board about hearing this new song properly. And this thread seems to have died a death too... All very weird.

It sounds to me like a better than average post-80s Journey track...but very much in the same style as TBF, Arrival and Generations. It doesn't seem that Journey will be changing direction at all, does it? Maybe just doing the tried and tested thing a little better than they have done in recent years....

You're weird bro.
The song sucks. You won't hear it on a new CD. It's a Jon Cain (God fucking hbelp us) song.

Yes. Matt is weird but as a member and president of the MR.com Weirdo Annex I have to say that regardless if it's ever recorded for a new album - it jut comes across as the same ol' same ol'.
Where's the JOURNEY fire that we all know and love?

Good example of what I described of as Deans honesty. He had the guts to say the song sucks so now everyone is free to admit how they truly feel.

It seems unlikely to me that they'd play this song live and then leave it off the album. If Journey are sitting on a stack of unbelievably exciting new songs why didn't they play one of those? No, I reckon they WERE excited about Winds of Freedom and that this is exactly what we can expect from the new record.
And yes Fyre - you are the Founder Member and the President!

I was under the impression that this song was expressly written for the America's cup 400th anniversary polo celebration. This was on the Polo cup website for Months as the halftime entertainment. I like how Jeff sings the song, I think the chorus is great and it was appropriate for this event and/or other patriotic events. I would be very surprised if this is on an album!

Winds Of Freedon was really nothing more than a great chance to take a piss/grab a beer without missing a good song. I'm GUESSING it was written rather quickly as it didn't seem to be too musically elaborate. Not to mention that Neal would NOT miss more than 1 note on a new song he was "into." It had Friga's gayness written all over it.

Ah, okay. I didn't realise that. I'll still be surprised if the songs that do make it on to the album will sound that different from this one though. We'll see...
