With Down to Earth they became an american AOR / hard rock act then they sold out. This doesn't mean their latest records had bad compositions, but the magic of their first 2-3 records was gone.
Joe Lynn Turner is a good singer, Dio was much more theatrical in his singing therefore added his magic touch to Blackmore's playing.
Their latest record with Doogie White has some great songs as well.
But as u may guess, my fav records are their 1st and especially their 2nd. After that record they went downhill.
