As serious as a Heart Attack. I think having DSB listed as one of the tracks helped sales significantly. People are suckers for Greatest hits packs, especially Journey fans. Look at the Essential Journey discs, those went platinum only three years before, and The Journey Greatest Hits DVD going 4X platinum only two years ago also. Journey fans gobble that shit up. Slap DSB on any disc and it will sell, case closed. Sony would probably put that in the contract for Perry if he were to try and release another disc through them. Either include a redone version of DSB or get out of town.
Better for Perry to stay retired then to rehash that song again. Sony would have it on the radio for sure, just causing further confusion about who the singer for Journey is.

And my beef with MS statement is the pull those GH adds to the sale is due to Journey, not Steve Perry alone. It's Journey's music, all of them. New disc vs. new disc, it didn't. Half a million to half a million. FTLOSM would have gone platinum too if he had released one disc of remakes and counted BOTH of them, and released a live DVD. Get that argument out.

I'm not saying what he was saying. I'm talking about an individual song. Coupled with the youtube/ Homeless story it all combined to help push sales of the album. I think Arnel's vocal ability, while very good was the smallest denominator in terms of sales. I think he just needed to provide an adequate performance and the rest would take care of itself.
