I don't know what it was about Danny, but he really turned me off -- cocky or something. Trying to cover Dream On just seemed to be the height of arrogance to me.

I never got the cocky-ness that everyone keeps speaking of about Danny. :::shrug:::

I take it as more a confidence and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think the fact that Adam has the most confidence and flash while performing, that his face time with the judges after his performance seems much more subdued, therefore, in sharp contrast to Danny's.

Danny still appears a bit uneasy while performing, so his confidence shines through more easily after the performance, when he seems more relaxed. It's all how you look at and perceive it really.

It's that "Oh, am I really good? You really *like* me? Gosh!" attitude that starts to get on my nerves after a while. Sure, it's cute the first few times, but after a while it starts to look as if that person needs to be constantly reassured that they're great. Simon constantly criticized Allison for that and wanted her to have more confidence in herself and act the part of a star more or he said that she wouldn't succeed (he said the same of Melinda Doolittle, as well). Simon was right, but unfortunately at 17, and thrust onto a stage where millions are watching your every move, every week, it is certainly overwhelming to someone her age. After she grows a bit into her talent and confidence, I expect her to be a much bigger powerhouse than we got to see... and I can't wait! :D

These fucking teenagers ruin this show, and always skew this shit, and it agravates the hell out of me! Okay...I'm done bitching for tonight. I just can't believe Kris won over Danny.

Wait...Okay, I'm NOT done. WTF is up with Perry coming out there with Adam sewn into her fucking costume??? This is a competition, and it I were one of the other contestants I'd raise HELL about it! They've been trying to push the fucker into the spotlight since day one, and this shit was just over the top. I really think this will be my last season of Idol. Fuck it all, I'm going to bed now. :x

Jeez Jim, calm down. LOL

Adam is amazing. You know through the years one of the things said about Steve Perry was he was "over the top" and "screamed" and "screeched", but we all love him.

Gokey just got to cocky. The American Idol voters HATE cocky and vote against it everytime.

Danny will still have a career, maybe even a better deal than the winner, but whoever wins, it's been a pretty good season. I mean come on, a Led Zep song on Idol, that's pretty cool.

See? Now there's that "cocky" word again, but still no explanation of why or specific instances of said cocky-ness.

I still see the guy whose wife passed away just prior to the auditions, who almost didn't audition because of it. I never, ever get that cocky impression from him or his performances. I get it from someone else who seems to be skating under the radar to the win.

I gave the example of choosing Aerosmith's Dream On. He also dismissed the judges criticism after that performance as though they were crazy and he did great.... cocky.

i don't see that cockiness or arrogance in either kris or adam.

You could see it in his face when they praised him. It was mainly just the look on his face, but I was obviously not the only one who picked up on it. My wife saw it too... especially after his second song the other night. It was like, "I know I'm all that and more." In comparison, Kris and Adam acted really humble.

I disagree about Danny Gokey being cocky. American Idol voters voted for the best looking guys, and Kris happens to be the one that gets the girls' motors running! I thought he did a great job on Heartless, but Danny has been consistently good throughout the competition, with the exception of that scream at the end of the Dream On! So, if he was cocky, then maybe he had good reason to be.

I do agree that it's been a great season for AI.

I predict it will be Kris winning this one, just because I identify with his style the *least*, and that's been the way it has gone from the second year onward. :? The only one that won that I thought should win was Kelly Clarkson.

I do believe this is the last year that I will get sucked into this nonsense. :!:

Yeah, whatever... But again she wasn't the one I identified with and the one I wanted to win. She just sang the sappy love ballad a little bit better. Blech!

something weird about danny after watching him from week to week. He just sounded the same every week. yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.

He kinda reminds me of a buddy in high school that would wait for you to get drunk and pass out and cornhole you. The quiet silent serial killer but poker type.

Have you seen a therapist to help you process that experience? I don't recall ever hearing someone use that particular analogy.

It's hard to describe one instance Debbie, but it was just something I observed a couple of times. Who know, giving him the benefit of the doubt, he might have just been nervous.

I do love his voice, but to me he was a one trick pony. I think Taylor Hicks has a VERY similar sound to Danny, and I voted many times for him, but he just hasn't had the fan base to get him to the top like a few other "Idols" have. Not saying the "top" is the best place to judge a music career, but something different is what AI needs now and I think there's been no better rock voice to come along than Adam Lambert.

Wash your mouth out with soap... then gasoline... and then set a match to it, Sean!!!! I absolutely despise Axl's voice and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Good, God, man! :::shudder:::

While I don't think Adam has the best voice ever, he knows how to perform and gain attention, so he would do well in the industry. I would love to see what Adam does on his own, outside the confines of AI. That will determine whether he has mega staying power or not. I love his individuality and courage for bucking the trend of the boy-band wanabees (like that dude "Justin Timberfake" -- I love that name!). 8)

BTW, hardly anyone outside of Europe and Canada ever got to see Harem Scarem. I never have, and have been a fan since '91. Then they pull out of MR Fest. Classy. :(

What the hell does that have to do with my quote???

Word was that they didn't think that they needed visas, since they weren't to be paid for their performance (just their expenses), only to find out just prior to the show that they still needed them since tickets were sold for the event that they were performing at.

If they were a new band, that never toured other countries before, I'd accept that, but that should automatically be part of the procedure any time the band travels for professional reasons. They really dropped the ball on that one.
