I don't know what it was about Danny, but he really turned me off -- cocky or something. Trying to cover Dream On just seemed to be the height of arrogance to me.
I never got the cocky-ness that everyone keeps speaking of about Danny. :::shrug:::
I take it as more a confidence and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think the fact that Adam has the most confidence and flash while performing, that his face time with the judges after his performance seems much more subdued, therefore, in sharp contrast to Danny's.
Danny still appears a bit uneasy while performing, so his confidence shines through more easily after the performance, when he seems more relaxed. It's all how you look at and perceive it really.
It's that "Oh, am I really good? You really *like* me? Gosh!" attitude that starts to get on my nerves after a while. Sure, it's cute the first few times, but after a while it starts to look as if that person needs to be constantly reassured that they're great. Simon constantly criticized Allison for that and wanted her to have more confidence in herself and act the part of a star more or he said that she wouldn't succeed (he said the same of Melinda Doolittle, as well). Simon was right, but unfortunately at 17, and thrust onto a stage where millions are watching your every move, every week, it is certainly overwhelming to someone her age. After she grows a bit into her talent and confidence, I expect her to be a much bigger powerhouse than we got to see... and I can't wait!
