I agree with RedJoe, I would be interested to hear how the songs have evolved musically. However, if the band simply plays the same as the original and only the vocal is different, it's not going to be ANY good. And the production/mix HAS to be top notch! To me it was a guarantee that with JSS there would have been a new vibe...that would have been awesome.

I also agree that there will likely be a new song or two on the disc. Of course you could d/l just those. Plus, Walmart is not a record label, so they might pony up some cash to Journey for this. It would likely be a straight paycheck for the product. Azoff is in bed with Walmart and they might "trust" him. That paycheck will not be as large as for the Eagles, but it will likely be more than the guys made from Arrival sales.

Personally, I find it hard to believe that those among us who have accumulated boot after boot for years, would now find the notion of hearing these songs once more so offputting.
What's more, at the end of the day, what do you think the Journey 2001 dvd was in essence?
Precisely just that – redone Perry hits with audio produced by Kevin Shirley.

I'll buy it, especially if they're attaching new material.

When this thread was originally posted and the question posed, there was no question of new music; I am definitely interested in new music and will certainly give it a fair hearing when it is released. As far as redone hits - no thank you, and I have to say I didn't buy the 2001 DVD either. My bad? Possibly, but it didn't - and still doesn't - interest me. You can call me an old stick-in-the-mud but I really don't care to hear those hits done by anyone but Perry, no matter how skilled a vocalist.

All the boots I have gotten for years have the same "Voice on them".

No, I wouldn't be buying it OR downloading it.

I wouldn't buy it if it was greatest hits redux. i would buy a CD of new, original songs and if it was sold as a package deal, then i'd use the re-recorded disc as a drink coaster.

Perry-era stuff was perfection and should be left alone. Do something new!!

redoing the old songs is their safety net or parachute.instead of doing something daring or new they are doing it the easy way.can't go wrong with something already successful plus yarnell will put his own spin on the classics.

I don't think a standalone re-recorded Walmart special greatest hits would sell very well even to die-hard Journey fans like myself. Why would anyone want to buy it when the original Greatest Hits CD is still available? Unless it's packaged with new material, I can't see it having any big sales except in the Philippines to support their own countryman. Maybe they'll package it with a free Frontiers T-shirt and Journey lip balm.

plenty of bands have changed singers and went on to much greater success.asia is the hugest place in the world.if they can get those fans behind them and arnel the sky is the limit.when bands hit a low point in america they usually turn their attention abroad.kiss is one good example.in 1980,81 and 82 they were huge in europe, austrailia and south america but couldn't get any success here.look up the kiss 1980 austrailian tour.it shattered a lot of records at that time.if they have to turn their attention to the far east and other places like that then i guess they'll have to do it to survive.i honestly can't see them making a dent here but overseas journey will be huge........

That's because they put out crap like "Dynasty" and "Music From the Elder".

To answer the original question...no I will not be buying any new Journey CD. That includes new material as well as classics redone. I can no longer support a band that treats people so poorly.
