I agree with RedJoe, I would be interested to hear how the songs have evolved musically. However, if the band simply plays the same as the original and only the vocal is different, it's not going to be ANY good. And the production/mix HAS to be top notch! To me it was a guarantee that with JSS there would have been a new vibe...that would have been awesome.
I also agree that there will likely be a new song or two on the disc. Of course you could d/l just those. Plus, Walmart is not a record label, so they might pony up some cash to Journey for this. It would likely be a straight paycheck for the product. Azoff is in bed with Walmart and they might "trust" him. That paycheck will not be as large as for the Eagles, but it will likely be more than the guys made from Arrival sales.
Personally, I find it hard to believe that those among us who have accumulated boot after boot for years, would now find the notion of hearing these songs once more so offputting.
What's more, at the end of the day, what do you think the Journey 2001 dvd was in essence?
