I felt the same way. And they played at 7 pm in daylight to people who were still getting their beers and walking to their seats. Well, when Foreigner got going people were running to their seats, that's for sure. I loved it when Kelly said "we're not playing any of our sappy shit tonight, we're here to rock" (or something like that). And they sure as hell rocked for their 50 minutes. Styx just went through the motions, and then Def Lep was what I remember from the tour with Journey. Nothing new.

How about this summer Loverboy from 7-7:40, Foreigner from 8:00-9:00 and Journey from 9:20-11:00? Sounds like a good night of music to me.

Sounds perfect. 8) And it's quite apparent that Kelly wants to rock and not play the softer tunes. That set was 100% energy from start to finish. I'm a HUGE fans of shorter, more intense sets. Everything after their set was intermittent fun. Neither of the bands that followed were able to have any sustained momentum. That Foreigner set was memorable.

I'm in. I'll meet you at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre.

Foreigner's set last year was definately 100% energy. It was hard for Styx to get going when they did Miss America, an extended Come Sail Away and an extended Renegade. They only got in like 9 songs in their 50 minutes. Foreigner pumped out song after song. And it was in your face. I was loving every minute. And you could tell the crowd got more and more into it as they got going. They should have gotten Styx' stage time that night.

I know..I know...lots of you hate KISS...I'm just sayin'...

Bad English opened some shows for Kiss back in 1990 I believe? So Neal, Jonathan and Deen also have that background with kiss.

uhhh,, i dont remember that .. kiss toured with slaughter , and faster pussycat...i once spoke to neal.. hes not a big Kiss fan.. put it that way... deen is though...

Well, Bad English were headlining their own shows in the fall of 89. In 90 they still headlined some of their own shows, but they also opened shows for both (separately) Kiss and Whitesnake. I think that at most they only opened maybe 10 shows for Kiss that year, maybe even less?

According to the book "KISS Alive Forever : The Complete Touring History" Bad English never opened for KISS.
Although Journey did open and play on the same bill 5 times :

May 11th 1975 Boston , Mass Orpheum Theatre, Boston, MA Headliner : Ronson/Hunter w/ KISS, Rush, Journey

June 21st 1975 Music Hall, Cleveland, OH w/ Journey (opening)
Neal Schon of Journey " It was interesting just watching them, that whole thing. They were really great guys. Gene Simmons really fucked my head up when I saw him blowing fire for the first time"

June 22nd 1975 - Charleston Civic Center, Charleston, WV w/ Journey & Montrose (opening)

July 15th 1975 - Cleveland Ohio (Temp Hold Date for recording Alive!) opening act scheduled : Journey

July 20th 1975 - RKO Orpheum Theater, Davenport, IA w/ Journey (two shows that day)(opening)

Maybe Bad English didn't open for them then?

But I subscribed to those old Journeyforce news papers, and I remember at the time that Neal or Jonathan were saying that they were going to open some shows for Kiss. Maybe those dates fell thru?

I know that Bad English did open for Whitesnake, I was at the Toledo show.

By the way, interesting that you mention those Cleveland area shows, I'm from Cleveland.

Deal. First beer is on me. Yeah, Foreigner had to have the other bands thinking, "Shit, it's gonna be hard to follow that up."

the journey, styx, foreigner thing has been played to death.
asia would be considered a co-headline, although i dont think this would draw huge numbers.
loverboy as 3rd on the bill would be great.
how about journey/boston w/ michael sweet on vocals( i hear boston is recording)

I'm still trying to figure out how ASIA feel they have the ability to co-headline anything, outside of county fair or a Frat party. When was the last time those guys were even remotely relevant in the US? 1983 maybe???

And yes I'm aware there are great musicians in ASIA. There are also great musicians in GTR, RTZ, Emerson Lake and Powell, and Zebra, but I don't see THEM demanding to headline anytime soon!

Cheap Trick, Loverboy and Journey would be a great line up. Similar demographics would keep everyone singing, dancin the entire night. ;)

Asia sold out the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA when I saw them. It holds 1,300. They are able to headline theater type venues. I'd say anything between 1,000 to 3,000 seaters they are capable of headlining on their own.

Now you're talkin! That would be a great bill. Probably a great bar bill too!

Asia sold out most of the dates they played last year. They are a bit more relevant than GTR (which is Steve Howe playing Geoff Downes music anyway), RTZ, ELPowell, and Zebra.

John Wetton is still recovering from major heart surgery so I don't know if their touring schedule is going to be as ardent as it was before.

AJ,

Are you friends with Mike H from mogadore? If you are, then I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. The singer in a Metal band that is also a huge Survivor fan. He's a good friend of mine.

I think I may have spoken with you on BT?

Night Ranger, Survivor, Foreigner, Styx, Loverboy, REO Speedwagon would all be great. Eric Martin would be great too. I always thought Eric could have been a decent if not great choice for Journey's lead vocalist? Triumph would be cool too.

Just keep Journey off any bill with any band that I still like. The American Idols tour would be perfect for them.

I really do hope REO will be on the bill. They haven’t done a proper US tour in support of their new disc Find Your Own Way Home and opening for Journey would be the perfect gig for them right now.
