Never before in the band's history, however, has it been so clear what the role of the incoming frontman will be than it has now. The band appears to have made it very clear that they want someone who can replicate Steve Perry's vocals. So to paint Perry, Steve A, JSS, and Pineda with the same "hired hand" brush isn't really accurate.

I think this is why Arnel was the choice. He is not the frontman Perry or JSS were, he has next to no stage presence, just the voice (and in my opinion, it's not THAT great of a voice). THIS way, NEAL can be the STAR he wants to be. They have the voice going, but not the personae of Perry/ JSS and to some extent SA that drowned out Neal. Neal's got the best deal here.

I'm sticking with Linkin Park. Chester kicks ASS! I'd much rather go with a relevant band that one that is rehashing old tunes with a mediocre singer. And I'll be happy to plunk down my $300 a ticket for LP. I wouldn't pay $1 to see Journey. My opinion. Danke.

This is the point most Arneliots, for reasons that escape me, refuse to grasp.

It's the particulars surrounding the band, and not the next successor in a long line of ejected vocalists. While I'm not convinced Arnel can pull of what Perry has pulled off, I wasn't convinced that Soto could do it either nor Augeri. The difference between Augeri and Soto/Pineda, is that Augeri was the first one...I was willing to give Steve the Second a chance, because I wasn't convinced the dysfunctional nature of this band was Schlong's fault or the twinkle-toed faggot's behind the whale at that point. I was proven wrong, since as soon as tour obligations for Arrival were concluded, the band sunk into a ring of horseshit laden nostalgia bullshit with zero hope of moving forward beyond the dirty dozen.

The fact of the matter is that Journey is broken. It's a broken machine. It chews up singers and spits them out to satisfy the huge fucking uncontrollable ego of Schlong and his yeast infected yes man finger-banging the whale.

Arnel's fate isn't going to be any different than Perry's, Augeri's or Soto's. He'll be used, chewed up and spit out when he no longer can provide steady income so Schlong can sign his 5 alimony checks every month.

So while I respect some folks are in this to ride it out...figuring "I'll take whatever Journey I can until this falls apart"...anyone that expects this lineup to do anything other than to pound the dirty dozen into dust as it scrapes the bottom of the fan heap, desperately upending fat-talkers, looking for spare change that falls out of their pockets...is delusional.

This new lineup isn't going to move mountains. It's going to get burried underneath one....a mountain of bad debt (to former fans) that it cant pay off...
