I would trust Colin Powell before Bush or Cheney any day. Let's see... Bush and Cheney have endorsed McCain/Palin, and Powell has endorsed Obama/Biden.

It's a no brainer!

I suspect Obama's proposed tax hike will ultimately be rolled onto the back of the consumer in the form of higher prices for goods, services and lower wages. For the businesses that are unable to do that and fold, they take those jobs with them. That's the fallacy of "sticking it to the rich".
If the rich wasn't so arrogant with their lifestyle maybe the working class wouldn't feel so put upon, I mean how many cars, homes and designer colthing does one need. or maybe the working man should as one famous woman said before she lost her head " eat cake"

TRAGChick wrote:Oh, If you missed this....Take 2:

Do you believe everything you read? Most of these are completely inaccurate.

1. Despite problems at home, Sarah Palin does not believe in giving teenagers information about sex.

Wrong. This was disproved early on in the campaign.

2. Sarah Palin believes the U.S. Army is on a mission from God.

She didn't say that. Her quote was taken completely out of context. What she said was for people to pray that we would be on God's side, not that the Iraq war was a task from God. Those are two completely different things. This is the same kind of thing that Lincoln said during the Civil War.

3. Sarah Palin believes in punishing rape victims.

Lots of people believe the unborn child should not be punished for the sins of its rapist father.

4. Who's really not in favor of clean water? Sarah Palin.

The quote you included didn't give context to Palin's comments. This sounds like that ridiculous propensity for Democrats to say things like Republicans just want old people to die, children to suffer, etc., if they don't support the same legislation that the Dems do. To say Palin is not in favor of clean water just really smells of a partisan cheapshot.

5. Sarah Palin calls herself a reformer, but on earmarks and the "Bridge to Nowhere," she is a hypocrite.

She has decreased spending since coming into office and reformed corruption in her own party. I don't know that either Palin or McCain has said they are completely against earmarks. If so, I retract that part of this statement.

6. Sarah Palin believes creationism should be taught in schools.

Also disproved...This was a lie put out there right after McCain selected her and was shown to be untrue several weeks ago.

7. Sarah Palin supports offshore drilling everywhere, even if it doesn't solve our energy problems.

Something on the order of 70% of Americans agree we should do offshore drilling and no one thinks it will completely solve our energy problems, so whoever came up with this didn't put the whole story out there. It will certainly help, though, along with things like oil shale, coal to oil, natural gas, wind, etc. These are the other things that Palin has consistently discussed and some of which she's already accomplished as Governor of Alaska.

8. Sarah Palin loves oil and nuclear power.

God bless her for this...We should be doing far more nuclear...Some countries in Europe, whose governments are considered far more "progressive" than ours, get a huge percentage of their power from nuclear plants. It is far less dangerous than most people know and the only reason we don't do more of this is because the nutjob environmentalists have everybody scared that there's a high possibility of another 7-Mile Island or Chernobyl disaster. The fact is that nuclear is most likely far cleaner for the environment than coal-powered electricity plants.

9. Sarah Palin doesn't think much of community activism; she'd much rather play insider political games.

She responded in kind to the Dems slamming her for only being a small town mayor and governor of a seemingly unimportant state. I haven't heard you complaining about that.

This is where we part company...I've always thought this was a Republican red herring argument. OF COURSE the upper income people are going to pay a higher percentage of the country's tax burden. However, that doesn't mean they are paying a higher percentage of their income than others are. I believe there should either be a flat tax, where everyone pays the same amount regardless of income or a consumption tax like the Fair Tax.

They are *really* arrogant, I completely agree!

Take John Travolta for example! This is a picture of his house. He supports Obama.

How about...oh, let's say Streisand. She supports Obama too.

Image

How about our "everyday joe in blue jeans" Al Gore & his 20 room mansion? You guessed it, he supports Obama too.

Damn those arrogant rich people!

Just out of curiosity and slightly off topic but what do you suppose their carbon footprints are?

As a life-long resident within the city of limits of Chicago, and having known of Barack Obama for the better part of 15 years since he lives about 7 miles from me I don't think you know what the fuck you're talking about.
If anyone is going to get "robbed blind" it's going to be working people when Obama gives money to people that pay no fucking taxes.

The earned income tax credit was installed to offset Social Security taxes for the less fortunate.

It was enacted in 1975 (Contrary to TNC who said Reagan did it)...

Stu, you know there is still a lot more fallout from the financial crisis to come. The critical decisions Obama makes in his first year will either blunt those coming shock waves or make their impact worse. I fear it'll be the latter but I'm hoping for the best.

Regardless of what happens, I seriously doubt we'll suddenly spring back into a vibrant economy in the next year or two. All of the negative things to come will be laid squarely on the back of George Bush. To some extent, they will be justified however many will be based on this administrations decisions....which will be conveniently overlooked.

Your stereotypes are honestly no better than black stereotypes I could write up about Obama, female stereotypes about Palin/Hillary/Pelosi etc etc.

"The rich" is such an abstract term in our country that you can't sit here and stereotype people as such. Rich means not having to work another day in your life and not ever having to fear any change in lifestyle, worry about falling into debt, etc etc. To you, maybe it means someone making $250,000 a year whether he is a bachelor or a father of six. To me, the two are not the same at all.

I stand corrected. It was only re-enacted and expanded by Reagan.
Ford, also a Republican, first implemented this socialist pox on our coutry.

That may be so, but the uranium enriching process is still very energy intensive and unleashes greenhouse gases.

Good Lord !!! Presidents have little power compared to CONGRESS except to veto or sign what comes across his desk. He is Commander in Chief of the military though. All the financial and Wall Street problems have been caused by CONGRESS.Clinton signed a bill to change how Wall Street was able to structure their deals. Some Presidents did appoint the rascals such as Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae. The one left with 90 mil and the other ,I forget. Google it and thanks Bill. Carter actually started it and CONGRESS pressured banks to lend to their voter bases. 49% of this country gets their electricity from coal. Obama said he is going to bankrupt coal companies in a recording on Drudgereport.com. The funny thing is our tech uses scrubers and our air is clear. All in Ohio Pa, Wv hang on to your hats because your jobs are threatened by this silliness. Hey Barack want to see coal polution. Look at a sat pic over India & China. That is polution!!!

He's not running for president for China or India. Their populations dwarf ours.

You can blame all you want on the Democrats, the point is, there were Republicans in power in Congress for 6 and a President for almost 8 that did nothing to fix the problems and have only caused more.

More businesses and people have filed bankruptcy under Bush's tenure than any other President.

He has also been pro-Nuclear, despite what McCain says,
