Joe Lynn Turner was big, but with bands like Deep Purple, Rainbow, Yngwie Malsteen. A great singer! unfortunately, the general public didn't take too kindly to rock songs, with mega cheesy lyrics. I rate the guy as one of the best male rock singers of all time, but I feel his song choices really let him down over the years, I believe even with the great bands such as Deep Purple, Rainbow, Malmsteen (Turner era), they have those big question marks hanging over them and very mixed reactions over years, mostly bad reactions from I can see, and as good as a lot of those albums are for us die hard fans, you were not going to see them up for grammy at any point in their careers. - So that's probably the issue is to why he didn't get the recognition he deserved, among his peers such as Gramm, Perry, and so on (those guys rarely! had a badly written song) if at all.

Saraya, female fronted melodic rock.
Their second record "When the blackbird sings" is awesome.
