Spoke to Kevin Chalfont regarding Journey!

Postby bionic » Wed Aug 09, 2006 4:21 pm

Had a chat with Kevin, who is a great guy and an amazing singer and brought up the Journey situation! Not only does he love the band and keeps in touch with Ross but had said he is always there to help the guys out in the vocalist spot if they need him! Though most of us know Jeff is the singer now,Kevin did say that it seems the guys want to go in a harder rock direction, which Jeff would be ideal for.
Anyway check his new Shooting Star cd its really good :D

I am still gratefull for your STYX CD's. there are so many, you must of sent me the entire catalouge! been going through them over the months, not a bad voice. Its very different type of music though, its good - just different to what I expected. I think the lead singer has a very clear sounding voice though, pretty good.

Thanks for this.
Did you ask him if he felt hoodwinked in light of the egregious lip-synching scandal?
Upon seeing a show last year, Chalfant was reported to have been singing the praises of Augeri.
Saying (and I paraphrase) "Augeri was in strong voice. Journey is on the rise again!"
Just a few years earlier Kevin was in favor of tuning keys down to help the noticeably struggling Augeri out.
Unbelievable.
These guys would dupe their own mothers (and in fact, probably did).

I figured it was unofficially "official" when I read what Eric Ragno wrote on his site. I know he and JSS are good buds & he wouldn't have put that on his site if it wasn't the case. U saw that did u? http://www.ericragno.com U have to scroll down to 7/6.

I love JSS just not shure I love him w/Journey. Something doesn't sound rite to me. I was just getting used of Augeri to be honest. He put on an ok live show. I hope it doesn't take me 8 yrs to get used of JSS. LOL

Funny since this whole thing I been going nutzo on Perry again. It opened up that dam again 4 me. Damn I hope he's gonna come out & do something this year.

Why don't they just bloody say Steve's not coming back?

Everyone seems to know anyway... they should just be honest about it.

Thing is, I don't really see how he can come back now. Obviously I'd like it if he did, but going by how many people seem to prefer Jeff and the fact that there was all the negativity leading up to it... I just don't see how he could come back. Also, i his voice really is wrecked then that could be a wee bit of a problem.

Seriously though, they should just be honest and say it's permanent if that's the case. Their fans aren't kids... apart from me maybe since I ain't hit 20 yet... they can cope.

Jeff Scott Soto even says on his website that he's filling in for Steve A. while he recovers, why are you guys writing him off? He's obviously more of a studio guy than a tour guy because his voice is older and its hard on him, that doesn't mean he's out of Journey. JSS has his own stuff and he's doing this for fun and publicity....Steve A. is not gone!!!!

Steve Augeri will officially be out of Journey as soon as the tour is over. The announcement is imminent. He destroyed his voice by standing on stage screaming into a microphone that wasn't even on. For that reason, I do not feel sorry for him.

but....how do you know this? he has a huge fan base=I've never even seen him in person, have seen Steve P. and JSS, but just wondering why you believe this? why can't he heal and come back and don't you think there will be some sort of revolution if they give him the boot, these women love Steve A.! Are you saying he's quitting or he's fired? they'll probably take a break after tour anyway and do their own bands type of thing, so how and when will we know for sure if ever? He only sang on a few of the songs on Generations....sorry to be a pest, but just wondering how you get your facts?

Journey's more of a tour band these days. They have to have a tour guy at the front. They can't sit around making albums with a studio guy becoz the albums won't sell. JSS is a tour kinda guy. Logic says JSS is the guy 4 the future. This ain't rocket science.

1 edit: JSS is the future unless hell freezes over & Perry comes back & that just ain't gonna happen much as I want it to.

your logic makes total sense, gotta go where the money is and obviously thier newer albums didn't do quite as well. This tour has brought up so many emotions for me because it just brings it all back from years ago and how terrific Steve P. was/is. I wish one of these newer mogul record producers that you read about...like the guy down in Miami...why don't they bring out the bucks and pay Steve P., don't they realize how huge the fan base is!? Wouldn't he do it for the money and really big promotions?

He ruined his voice cos they tour too much. I agree they're more of a live band etc... but come on, touring 8 or 9 years in a row for the length of time they have would ruin anyone's voice.

I think he's out.

Let´s see...Augeri is the official singer that perhaps will do the studio stuff while
Soto pulls it off live and yet everybody´s talking about Perry coming back!
I don´t mind Chalfant but he in Journey? Nah...that will only sound The Storm.
Journey is not just a band,it´s a way of life!

And the Storm sounded likek it was trying to be (or rightfully was) Journey. So it would be all full-cricle.

The Storm was more Journey than Journey, when comparing to ROR and TBF. I would put it up over any of the Rollie era cds, with the band-ERIC

Yep.
I've always maintained that the two Storm albums are the best Journey cds that Journey never released. If you know what I mean.

Ditto, ROR and TBF sucked big time. The two Storm cd's and Hugo's stuff are much better than those two turds! L8r

Steve is permanently out. I just sent Andrew an email about this. JSS is in. I just heard from a co worker ( I work for a well known music equipment mfg) who's in touch with a member of JSS's camp. Anyway, JSS is in and I heard there were some other problems with Augeri that I didn't get more details on. I'm sure this will all come out later.

Yeah, I heard from my uncle's neighbor, who knows a guy who lives near Augeri's doctor. He says the same thing.

That's what Neal's been saying for a while now, that he wanted to go "where it rocked." It's nice that Kevin confirmed it.
