Hell in 91 at the Bill Graham tribute the songs were two steps lower ! Poor guy. I hope that was just a fluke and not a shot voice. I have to say that hearing him speak during the white sox stuff doesnt have me hopeful of him ever sounding close to his former self. His speaking voice was very scratchy. Fingers crossed though. I really think that TBF was pro tools "enhanced". I hope I am wrong.

I hate to say it but you are totally right. It's simply age and the instrument was wore out from frequent use. Another guy in the same boat is Bob Seger. He was on Jay Leno last week and it's clear his voice is totally shot!!!!! And yet, isn't it great how diehard fans "drink the kool aid"? No matter how rough and bad sounding his voice was (and at times totally off key) they still said his Jay Leno performance last week was "great". It really was not at all. And the song was a total rehash of Against the Wind and all of the Against the Wind imitation songs he's ever wrote.

By the way, it should say "ex Journey lead singer."
But hey, he looks good and let's hope we can hear from him soon.
