Couldn't agree with ya more Sher! I think you're right, maybe he thinks he has to deliver those vocal acrobatics that fans associate him with.........Journey's has to be one of the most critical fan bases ever! When in reality for alot of fans it is more about the delivery than the range. Heck, my all-time favorite Journey song is Still They Ride and there isn't as much range in that one........but he can drag out a word like no other singer I've ever heard.

And I think you're right that he still has
that, heck you can hear it in his speaking voice. Damnit Steve!

LOL, I think my sig line says it all, thanks Nora.
That is where people are getting real critical with JSS too.......is the range on the early stuff, but look at how well some of the more (soul/emotion) songs are going over.....like I'll Be Alright Without You, Message of Love, Edge of the Blade, Open the Door, etc.
In 'After The Fall', JSS
nails the most soulfully-delivered line by Perry in the whole song........."and your sweet caress, I miss you now"....very impressed.
Journey music is soooooo much more about the delivery than it is about the range for me. I think that is why I'm really enjoying JSS's Escape/Frontiers/ROR stuff.
