Sorry to hear that,Nora...Nothing's worse than a flued (is THAT a word?LOL) singer.

Try a few quick remedies.Glycerine & lemon, milk with butter...At least these work directly on the voice.

Hope you'll be up to get through the shows.Take care. :)

I can think of something else that would help the throat but on all accounts it tastes awful and you'd probably have to spit it back out, still worth a try Nora if it's an important show

Most of the problem lies with what you do BEFORE you get the cold. About a year ago I started drinking 3 16oz. glasses of Green Tea daily. I haven't been sick ONCE. I'm like fuckin' Superman. I've never been one to wear coats unless it's below like 25 degrees, but I always wear a hat. Try the Green Tea routine. The anyi-oxidants keep your immune system humming along. As for now though, you're screwed!! Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I have had a few colds recently and am just getting over a bout of bronchitis despite taken regular exercise and watching what i eat - I thought it was old age creeping up on me! Definately going to try the green tea tip, any particular way that you take it SJ?

Oh, and get well soon Nora! I think JSS posted some advice here about getting over throat problems recently, from when they were in the UK...might be useful?

Found the thread, but it seems that antibiotics may have had something to do with the fast cure, sorry!

Be thankful you don't have what I have. I've been out of commission since Wednesday afternoon. Got dizzy and sick at work and drove home late afternoon before quitting time. Ended up throwing up all over myself in my truck about a mile from my house. I feel better now, but if I try to sit or stand up or move my head around very much, I still get dizzy. It's been a long time since I've felt this bad. The doc said he thinks it's some kind of virus and I got too dehydrated. Hopefully, I'll feel a lot better tomorrow.

I buy regular old Lipton Green Tea and drink it out of a 20oz. mug. People at work have been coughing, puking and missing work and I walk around without a coat and just my hat and long sleeves on. They're like "What the fuck?" It's awesome. I'm a real prick about it too (as you could imagine). I say things like "Man I wish I could get a cold once in a while. Really pisses everyone off.

It works, it really does. I'm still amazed at how long it's been since I've been sick. Good luck!

I've tried drinking green tea and don't care for the taste. But I don't like getting sick so maybe I need to give it a second chance.

that's tuff stuff, girl. I'm sorry you are ill.

gargling with warm salt water if your throat is sore. I chew sugerfree gum, sometimes even throughout the show, to keep the throat from not drying out. I think Jeff said he did too but mentioned to make sure to get the kind with Xylitol. I think he mentioned that he used that singer's spray (check his post for the name) in between songs-kept it on stage with him. no talking-just typing. :D try not to clear your throat, sip water, or green tea, and try not to cough, ha!, or just cough gently. behind your fan like those prim and proper southern Belles. get well soon! sleep!! sleep!! sleep!

lots of brands out there. warm green tea with honey or the chinese version with jasmine is really good too. they sell it in lots of vending machines now too but some have too many additives so read carefully.

Oh yeah....before going to bed last night, I had a mini -vial-thing of that, with a tall glass of OJ, and a ginormous pill of 1,000mg of Vitamic C.

Had horrible nightmares all night.
