I will say this -- for all the worries about Big Brother and having surveillance cameras all over the place, people that can't govern themselves need to be monitored like cattle. What a sick society we live in...
Something the Police Chief said really struck me -- about how people look at something like this as a "police problem", when it's not a police problem, and that's EXACTLY why we are losing our American way of life... people look to authority figures to solve problems that can be addressed ourselves. No different that the endless stream of trailer park drunks on COPS who have no reasoning capacity and have to call the police to mediate domestic arguments.... good grief! Now, that cancer has been spreading into other segments of our society for quite some time, and it's only getting worse. Good for the politicians, who greatly benefit from an ill-educated and detached society that needs them to watch over and protect them....
Guess I did get on that soapbox, but it felt good....

On the other hand..........I can testify that it is not they way everywhere you go. Last December, on a day with a 20 below wind chill, my waterpipe on my vehicle froze up, leaving me stranded on a county highway, I called a towing company, but they were very busy and wouldnt be there for close to an hour.....engine dead, no heat...
7 out of 9 cars that were paasing by stopped and asked if there was anything they could do..Since I had a blanket to keep warm, I thanked them, and told them not to worry.
Now, I do live just outside a small town ( Population 2,000 ) but these people were no doubt on their way to work in the larger city nearby.
So, yes, that whole situation with the hit and run is completely ridiculous, but it's not representative of the entire civilization we are a part of.

Then if anyone tried to help the guy up after I fed him his teeth I probably would fuck them up too.. Let him lay there for a while... I have some anger I need to deal with perhaps.. hehe

It seems that after the little girl was hit, the Mom of the 14 year old girl driving got out of the car and ran away. Now that is some sick shit too. It leaves you to wonder what the Mom was doing to cause her to run like that and leave her kid to deal with the little girl.
What is even sadder was that little girl was going to be adopted really soon. I think the adoptive parents were in the final stages of the adoption. Truly sad situation.
I had heard on a talk show this morning that only 9 states have this "Good Samaritan" law, and CT isn't one of them. I do wonder what that law says.
