I love Vonage. My wife has relatives in Italy and we can talk to them for 1 cent/minute...so for less than 2 bucks we can catch up nicely!
The service is great, just make sure you have good broadband service too.

I've heard that the E-911 (enhanced 911, meaning operators immediately get your location when you call in) does not work at all with Vonage. I don't have Vonage, but have a close friend who has it. He loves it, but I find the service a bit inconsistent when we talk. There is almost always an echo. It distracts the hell out of me, but he said he's used to it.
