Must be decent if they're retaining Shirley again and how do you know WalMart is out of the question?

I read somewhere that most of these Walmart deals are a one shot. Actually, I think it was Gunbot who posted that. He seems to know more about this kind of shit than I do.

Yea but if the band (at least as currently construed) stuck oil in their own garden GB would ask how many tomato plants died in so doing.

I'm headed back to continue the recording of the Black Country debut album, which is going to be very authentic - a real band, playing real songs and not a plethora of overdubs to water it down. That's not to say it's a live-in-the-studio album..... everyone is playing live in the studio, but there are selective refinements to enhance the music. Then later this year, new recordings with Journey and Joe Bonamassa for 2011 releases, amongst others...
good news or bad news? I liked the production on Revelation.

The drums sounded terrible on it.
Shirley's fine.

No he wasn't. Azoff himself concocted the idea. Elson just spearheaded it without the knowledge of Schon or Cain.Elson was the "magic" and that guy pulled it off(almost), quite well. Had he only used more than the 2001 dvd, he would have made it.
Shirley is twice the producer. Hell, if they were smart, they would ask Perry to produce it. He knows the true Journey sound better than anyone.

So, Dean, let me ask you this....
If Schon or Cain didn't have prior knowlege of the lipping, why were you so down on them, or did you just figure out the the new and improved truth?

That was sarcasm Stevie. At first when I was discovering this BS, I knew Schon and Cain were in on it..they had to be, as was Castronovo, Valory and all the sound guys. I was stupid and stood next to Schon as he was being very friendly to me and I was feeling the euphoria of "being in the know." I have apologized and will again to Steve Augeri. He certainly is not wihtout fault here, but he was hardly the bad guy I painted him as when this shit first reared it's ugly head. I can tell you 100% truthfully this horrible idea was none other than Mr. Azoff. he said, and I am paraphrasing here, "if Britney Spears can do it, so can we." I had Schon tell me on voicemail(Red13JoePa heard it), that"everyone's doin' it dude, the Leppard all tese bands." Don't want to try to rehash this ugly era at all, just thought I would clear that up real quick.

Just out of curiosity, when you mention Leppard, are you referring to lead vocals, background or both? (Or is this just referencing that infamous Dancing With The Stars appearance?) I know there has always been speculation of tapes with Lep, but I never realized it was actually proven like with Journey. That sucks just a much as Journey if Elliot is definitively using tapes (I always thought they just used an abundance of effects on his live voice.)

Pretty sure that's not a stipulation - that's just been the way it has turned out. Along with the Eagles album being a stand-alone, didn't AC/DC just have the Black Ice album?steveo777 wrote:I read somewhere that most of these Walmart deals are a one shot. Another thing that has just been the way everything has turned out. It's not a rule or anything. I'm going to guess if the deal was lucrative for both the band and Wal-Mart, there's no reason why they can't do it again. Why turn away from a good thing?

No one is talking bg vox Steve. That is no big deal either. I wish they only used bg vox and I could still be a fan. It's sad for me really, because they're music was so great...but now it's just tarnished and frankly that's unfair to Steve Perry, who had nothing to do with the bad in the band, only the good.

It kind of throws Pineda into that same category, even though he has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I know it. Pineda is in a different situation because he was poorer than a Haitian panhandler and needed the dough. I bet you Behshads nuts in an ice cream cone Pineda knows about the lipping of journey. I bet he keeps his yap shut and collects his paycheck. It's unfair to him but then again, life's unfair.
