I had better than a snow day back in 1980. I was living in Spokane, Wa. and Mt. St. Helens blew, blanketing Spokane with volcanic ash. It shut the city down and my wife and I just stayed indoors, drank a lot of beer and wine, listened to lots of music and had mad sex. 7 days of not having to go to work was a beautiful thing! :D

I was in Portland at that time and just remember the awful ash in the air, and how it ruined my car's finish. Then when it started raining, it was like everything was covered with cement. I saved a little tube of the stuff.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Hey cool. I lived on Fairchild AFB right outside of Spokane during the same time. Got a huge jar full of that ash still.

I remember skiing on Spirit lake in Idaho when it first started happening. The sky got dark and it was like I was being hit by snowflakes, which would turn out to be ash. I can remember we went back to the cabin and listened to the radio to determine exactly WTF went down. The drive home in the car was interesting to say the least.
