Hey cool. I lived on Fairchild AFB right outside of Spokane during the same time. Got a huge jar full of that ash still.

I remember skiing on Spirit lake in Idaho when it first started happening. The sky got dark and it was like I was being hit by snowflakes, which would turn out to be ash. I can remember we went back to the cabin and listened to the radio to determine exactly WTF went down. The drive home in the car was interesting to say the least.
