Dennis DeYoung now has Tommy Shaw and JY clones in his band. I saw it recently. Amazing. Dragging this out of the Styx forum into the general. Watch, listen and discuss.

Best part is he found a Tommy AND JY replacement.

I like the current Styx still, but love this big FU to JY.

Doesn't make sense to me for him to do the Styx songs that he didn't sing.

Well, I pay to see Styx and do not get most of their hits. Still great but ignoring a lot.

Not playing "The Best Of Times" is criminal. DDY is now covering all bases.

Waiting on Monker and Froy.

This is from MY show in Baltimore. JY and Tommy HATE this song.

I get it, but listen to the crowd response.

Dennis is the best, man. His show seems to be everything a Styx show isn't. He seems to have the idea of what a show's production should be like. The band is tight, the sound is great and the youth of the younger guys and the experience and voice of DeYoung just have this act on fucking fire. I'd see Styx still, but if I had my choice I'm going to see Dennis and his crew. That group has everything. Vocals, swagger, professionalism ... and they don't have that "going through the motions" look and feel about them that Styx, and even Journey, has. There's more of an awareness and appreciation for the fans when you keep the touring at a maintainable level. You simply can't be outstanding 150 times a year ... Styx! Kudos to Dennis. He's got it right.

His voice sounds pretty damn good. Strange to see him out front like that. The lyrics "I need control" are him to a T.

Great song and Styx is just shitting down the necks of their fans by not playing it in concert. They simply couldn't mentally handle that song getting the loudest ovation of the night. That's why they don't play it. Man, Dennis and his crew nailed that song! 8)

Dan, I have nothing against what Styx still do. Totally enjoy them and got to see them recently. Well oiled machine. DDY = my wife liked that show better. I appreciated both concerts but totally understood.

I could be worse, you could be an REO fan who still has their lead singer but sings like he has a permanent head cold and too tone deaf to realize that his voice gave out 15 years ago.

Dennis during the "Return To Paradise" your in '96 is still the best vocal performance I've ever seen live. Simply jaw-dropping.

And that infomercial he did is pretty corny. Although, the girl he did it with is hot.

You have to meet him in person and have a few beers. Great dude. One of the highlights of my trip up there was cruising through some Baltimore neighborhoods with Ed and stopping at Stinger's house a for a few beers. It's a very nice city, for the most part.

There are some great areas in the city too. As tour guide I can make my hometown look like a million bucks or exactly as it is on an episode of "The Wire".

Maybe Baltimore should hire Sean Penn. Just like his going to Columbia, he'd probably come back from there thinking it's the safest, most pristine city on the entire planet. He'd have nothing but good things to say about it. Do you have a socialist dictator for a mayor? They'd probably become best friends.

Last time I saw DDY was with the Orchestra thing a few years ago, and that was great, much better than the last time I saw Styx with Gowan. He'll be here soon, so I may check out the new show, but the Styx camps bitterness just turns me off. Dennis is a complete showman. But his loyalty to his wife and allowing her to butcher songs as a backup singer just annoys me.

Dennis DeYoung now has Tommy Shaw and JY clones in his band. I saw it recently. Amazing. Dragging this out of the Styx forum into the general. Watch, listen and discuss.

Dennis's band is ok. Seen this line up a couple times not bad not all that great either. I'll stick with the band in my avatar 8)
