Dennis DeYoung now has Tommy Shaw and JY clones in his band. I saw it recently. Amazing. Dragging this out of the Styx forum into the general. Watch, listen and discuss.

Well, I pay to see Styx and do not get most of their hits. Still great but ignoring a lot.
Not playing "The Best Of Times" is criminal. DDY is now covering all bases.
Waiting on Monker and Froy.

I get it, but listen to the crowd response.

Saint John wrote:Dennis is the best, man. His show seems to be everything a Styx show isn't. He seems to have the idea of what a show's production should be like. The band is tight, the sound is great and the youth of the younger guys and the experience and voice of DeYoung just have this act on fucking fire. I'd see Styx still, but if I had my choice I'm going to see Dennis and his crew. That group has everything. Vocals, swagger, professionalism ... and they don't have that "going through the motions" look and feel about them that Styx, and even Journey, has. There's more of an awareness and appreciation for the fans when you keep the touring at a maintainable level. You simply can't be outstanding 150 times a year ... Styx! Kudos to Dennis. He's got it right.

Signature song from the show I went to. Hard to argue.

I could be worse, you could be an REO fan who still has their lead singer but sings like he has a permanent head cold and too tone deaf to realize that his voice gave out 15 years ago.

Dennis during the "Return To Paradise" your in '96 is still the best vocal performance I've ever seen live. Simply jaw-dropping.

I have never felt more unsafe than when I was in downtown Baltimore!Saint John wrote:Rick wrote:

You have to meet him in person and have a few beers. Great dude. One of the highlights of my trip up there was cruising through some Baltimore neighborhoods with Ed and stopping at Stinger's house a for a few beers. It's a very nice city, for the most part.

There are some great areas in the city too. As tour guide I can make my hometown look like a million bucks or exactly as it is on an episode of "The Wire".
