That's like saying Journey hasn't slipped into obscurity because Revelation went pseudo-platinum.....
Journey is a HAS BEEN band,,,, that has nothing to do with VIDEO GAMES SALES,,,these are new games coming out, and you never see a game get extra points of sale for 2 copies if they include a bonus disc or somehting in the package.
My whole point is that Nintendo is A LOT bigger than Monker think they are,,,, Monker has every right to dislike Nintendo, but to say that theyre out of the competition and they make crappy boring games, is HIS personal views, not the GAMERS COMMUNITY,,,,
And the exact reason he mentioned that Microsoft might still make another system, even if it means LOSING money on the system like sony did with PS3, is what I think IS THE REASON that they will give up on the hardware market and focus on software like Sega did. Microsoft was huge in software sales WAY before the first Xbox came out......
Well, I didn't say Nintendo isn't "big". I didn't say they were "out of the competition". In fact, I said all three consoles can claim success. I don't 'dislike' Nintendo....I think the Wii games are boring compared to what is on other systems.
My opinion is that Nintendo is no longer going after hard core gamers. My opinion is they are losing third party support and the quality of games is suffering because of it. Yes, I do believe that many gamers are dropping Nintendo in favor of other systems...because of the games and what the system offers.
Sorry, but having three games in the top 10 is not very good...and is about what I expected. And, if you pay attention, what that also shows is the lack of support that I am talking about. Is BioShock or Dante's Inferno even on the Wii? No. Why sin't the Wii version of Modern Warfare 2 in that list? Because gamers know the Wii is not giving them the full game - because the hardware can not handle it. The Wii games? A Mario title, a sequel to Wii Sports, and a goofy dance thing for kids...that is NOT an impressive list for Nintendo AT ALL. Again, the wii-mote was supposed to be a dream controller for FPS games...but few are released on the Wii and those that are FAIL.
I don't get what you are saying about Microsoft releasing software. What Microsoft title has EVER been released for Sony, Nintendo, Sega, Atari, or any other console? They do PC software, true. But, until the Xbox, I don't think they did GAMES for the PC. My point is that when Activision, for example, releases a title for the Xbox, Microsoft receives $'s from Activision. THAT is where they make the money...as long as that is there they can take a loss on the console. But, if there is no third party support and few games - they don't make the $'s. Microsoft does not have a problem with that for the Xbox. Neither does Sony for the PS3.
My opinion is that this time next year Nintendo will be talking about a new console. Backward compatible with the Wii, better motion controllers, more powerful processor, more memory, and HD video and sound. If they don't do that...they will be lagging very, very far behind.
