He would definitely be my choice! Great singer and he's still got his chops. His problem might be keeping him out of jail long enough for a tour.

You see the incentive he has for staying in, right?

Fact Finder- Yesterday it was announced that Adam will also sing with Queen in Russia the week before Knebworth 7-7-12 . I have a feeling more will be added.

For anyone interested, here is the whole show from Kiev today:

I think I'm one of the few on here who actually likes Adam Lambert, but this :? . . . just not sure. Some really good moments, some not so much. Good to see Brian and Roger though.

It sure can - he sounds like a goat on some of the songs - especially We Are the Champions. Ugh - I think he's talented but I like him much better on his own stuff.

I like Martel so much better on Queen's songs. I realize that Lambert is more the type of frontman they want, but Martel's voice is so much closer and he sings those songs with much respect to the original material.

I think Martel's voice, respect for the original material, combined with his humble nature is the ultimate homage to Freddy...

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if, after the Extravaganza Tour is done, they draft Martel for a"final" Queen tour..

Have to agree with ya there. Like his own stuff better too, not sure if I dig him on these Queen songs either, although Radio Gaga and Want to Break Free were pretty good, but yeah some just didn't sound right. :? My daughter just bought Adam's new cd, I'll have to have a listen.

I have the new CD but have only listened all the way through once - just hasn't grabbed me yet the way the first one did. And yes - see you Monday :) - I'm having this totally irrational fear that yet another rockslide in the mountains is going to prevent me from getting there. Mind you - I assume the QE guys are travelling by land from Vancouver to Calgary also - so if I don't make it neither will they!

My daughter and her boyfriend just drove back from Kelowna today, so you're all good to go, or come, I guess. By the way, the weather's great! A perfect 25 C today. :D

Amongst the Queen Fan fraternity there are many mixed feelings about Q+AL, just as there was with Q+PR.

My own view is that, whilst Brian and Roger obviously like the guy and what he has to offer, that his isn't right to front Queen (they are doing 6 shows in all; Ukraine, Poland, Russia and UK (3)) and going by the online reviews the first show was a combination of the good, the train wreck (Brian's words) and the mediocre, however I will wait and see. Their combination on the European MTV Awards in Belfast earlier in the year didn't enamour it to me.

I bought 'Trespassing' whilst in the States and its a good, if unmemorable, Pop album. He sings his own material well but that, on its own, isn't good enough to get him to front Queen. When we were in Canada we saw the first 3 QE shows and they were fantastic and all 4 singers were tremendous and it could well have been Queen+Friends.

I will keep my own counsel on Q+AL until I have seen it in the 'flesh'.

Two different dimensions. Lambert sings great, but he has NO IDEA about the things he would sing about in Queen. Poor choice. Soto or Martel are the much better choices.

from Marc's Twitter page:

Marc Martel ‏@marcmartel
I'll be performing with Roger Taylor and Brian May on Monday at the Savoy in London for the "Freddie For A Day" benefit. #FreddieForADay

Now this I would love to see - hopefully there will be recordings that end up on YT :)

Martel is the ONLY one. He has the emotional quality of the songs intact in his delivery not to mention that voice !!! He tours and I go. Lambert.. Please... No contest, I will stay home.

Martel was great when I saw him and I wanted to hate him.

Sometimes though it's just time to let go and appreciate what once was.

I still believe Martel will eventually be the choice... he's the anti-Lambert..

Fans want Freddie... and Martel is the closest thing there is.

Adam is amazing ! The reception he received in Russia, the Ukraine and especially London 3 night shows Brian & Roger know what they want. All of it is on YouTube . The songs I loved were Somebody to Love,Who wants to live forever, and The show must go on. Powerful ! They have Jeff And Mark singing for the Queen Extravaganza. I hear they will tour the US next year. That was a slip by their keyboardist. Meatloaf names him one of the 2 best singers he has seen in the last 30 yrs.

It just goes to show how perception cab differ.

I was at Hammersmith to see Queen and Adam Lambert and, like the latter of the Paul Rodgers outings before, was distinctly underwhelmed. There is little doubt that AL has a good pop voice, that he could be a showman but to front Queen - nah! It is a mix that doesn't feel right.

In terms of QE nothing has been announced as yet for a follow up tour and despite your assertion that QE had Jeff and Marc they actually had four good lead/backing vocalists plus the musicians who could all sing too!

Will Queen tour next year - no one can say but they often pull something surprising out of the bag.

Queens keyboardist said they will tour in 2013. So, I think we know who Brian & Roger have chosen. There were 225,000 at the Kiev show.

I waited to post for I hope my final opinions. I know there is a lot of bill dipping on here and I usually get blasted. Look at Queen + Adam Lambert We are the champions in London Day 3. At the end you will see that Brian & Roger aren't changing the singer and the audience loves Adam. After he completed his AI commitment he toured the world on his own and it was crazy in those countries. As far as AI Kris Allen won because AT&T had parties in Ark ,supplied the phones and employees showed them how to vote 10 times hitting 1 button. AI is free publicity and means nothing to future success. So many winners don't make it.
