If Tim Tebow is sincere then it is his right to express his religion freely.

Sure he does, but other people also have the right to tell Tebow to shut his pie hole and to stop pontificating about the "God" he prays to. The reality is that most people don't give a shit where he genuflects. Never in my life have I come across a football player get this much attention who sucks as bad as Tebow does. The guy is fucking DREADFUL as an NFL QB. I actually feel badly for the guy, watching him on the field, because he is sooooo fucking lost! He's as bad of a QB as I've ever seen in the NFL. If he's a genuinely nice person, good for him. There are a lot of genuinely nice people in the world who don't feel compelled to tell anyone who is forced to listen to them about their religion. For me, it's no different than someone babbling on and on about their political stances. Again, most people don't care to listen to it. Unfortunately, because of Tebow's platform as an NFL player, most who don't want to listen to it are still forced to! The reason that Tebow is so polarizing is that his fan club won't stick to just annointing the guy as a saint and the greatest human being who has ever lived. They have to take that next step and actually make the argument that the guy is a good QB, and he simply isn't remotely good.

What sucks so hard about his QB'ing?

Short and sweet: EVERYTHING. Footwork, accuracy, mechanics, release, decision making, technique, vision & the ability to NOT read a defense. If you would sit there and think "I want to put together the WORST quarterback I can think of and all the variables that go into it" it's Tim Tebow. He can't hit the wide-side of the barn and is lucky to complete 6 lousy pass's a game (his QB rating is a LEAGUE WORSE 46% when the average is 70%) and I'm talking the most common pass's for a quarterback to make when you're simply trying to settle down a player.

Now, his entire game is running the football due to his strong build and stature. He's a gloried running back that happens to touch the football EVERY play. If they will just use him at his strength's and put him in an H-back/Full-back position, then maybe he will last more than 2 years in the league and build on it. Quarterbacking isn't his natural instinct, it's his bottom half that makes him a decent football player.

I haven't read all of this thread because I thought it was a football thread that I wouldn't understand. I have no idea who this guy is and I'm going to go back and read it all, but on this single point, whether is someone is sincere or not ,has nothing to to with their right to free speech. Its a complete shame that the only dirt people can pull up on him is A)Maintaing a good Christian life thanks to a good Chistian upbringing B) Maintaining his virginity until his wedding day 3) He is Pro-Life 4) He gets down on a knee and thanks God after a good play, and as a Florida supporter this is nothing new that he started in the NFL. Go back and watch his college years, all the way back to his first true freshman game. Hell, even old high school games. Hes always "Tebowed".
For all of this he definetly deserves to be hung from an old oak tree, wild west style.

Huh? I think John said it best. His religious antics is NO different than if he would go out and throw a politic rant on his beliefs on Red and Blue. It's SIMPLE. There's a time and place for it and most athletes bring religion into play when it comes to sports. Tebow simply abuses it (he's obviously allowed to) but many people simply aren't interested in seeing that being displayed at the level Tebow does. In fact, you can thank Tebow for how much people resent that because he sure does understand the baggage it can cause and knows EXACTLY when the camera is on him. It was a problem when he wore "John 3:16" on his eye paint and it's posing a problem now. Just know that some people aren't too interested in how he goes about his beliefs. It's great of a man he is, but I think it's common sense on how people (including those around the NFL) will react to it!

Now, as far as saying "it's a complete shame that the only dirt people can come up with is his maintaining a good Christian life" that's not true. Only Tebow-worshippers think that. I can think of 1 million things off the top of my head the dirt on the guy as an NFL quarterback. I'm fine with Tebow's personal life, I'm strictly football but givin' how BAD Tebow really is as an NFL QB, the way he goes about his faith on the field during his terrible performances open that up for criticism. Again, his Christian life has no baring on how bad of a quarterback he is. That's what bothers me, the press he receives for simply not being anywhere NEAR good. If he didn't "Tebow" and if he wasn't such a publicized figure in college (because of his outcry in religion) then he'd receive 0 press on his on-field abilities. As far as the "bad QB" comment you made how in the hell can a reasonable football fan, like yourself-I thought, call him all of this after one half a season as a starter??? Does he not even get a learning curve? Hells Bells, we know hes playing poorly right now but you gotta remember. He is a 2nd year player who just became a starter midway thru this season. He didnt even get much of a training camp due to the lockout. I hate to tell you YJ, but the oddity is QB's who excel in the rookie year. For every Matt Ryan there is a Tebow, Stafford, on and on that didnt, although Tebow has won enough games to make it to the playoffs. In the NFL does bad QBs always make it to the playoffs??????

You do realize Tim Tebow isn't a rookie, right? (You can't use the lockout argument for your debate. Tebow DID have training camp last season but this years class of rookies didn't. Result? Rookie quarterback's SMASHING long-league records and putting up 4,000+ passing yards. NO EXCUSE for Timmy and the lockout, they all had to go through it, including veterans.)

He had all last season to work on his game and couldn't even beat out Brady Quinn as the SECOND QB to backup Kyle Orton. There's a reason for that. Denver was so bad, they just threw Tebow in for the out-cry of the fans (and Fox to save his job) and because of the relentless nature of his defense in that winning streak, his true colors have now been shown, putting up the most PUTRID numbers ever as a starting NFL QB. He's simply a TERRIBLE, HIDEOUS quarterback. I understand your love for him at Florida, no one can take that away from you, but it's quite obvious that Tim Tebow is relevant only because the critics want to ride out his story as long as they can because he probably won't be in the leauge much longer playing under center.

Broncos open to using Tebow's backup

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Are the Denver Broncos set to surprise the Steelers with a quarterback switch?

That was the buzz at Denver's training facility Friday after word emerged that Tim Tebow had been giving up some first-team practice snaps to backup Brady Quinn, though no one would confirm it. Practice has been off-limits to reporters all week.

Tebow will be the Broncos' starter Sunday, coach John Fox made clear again yesterday. And Fox continued to brush off questions about replacing Tebow with Quinn if Tebow struggles as he did in the team's final three games, all losses.

"I don't deal in hypotheticals," Fox said. "We expect our starters to play well, always."

But Fox then was asked how he could use Quinn, given that Quinn hasn't appeared in an NFL game since Dec. 20, 2009, while with the Cleveland Browns.

"He's on the football team," Fox said of Quinn, "and everybody on the team's ready. If for some reason an injury occurs or something happens, then it's the next man up. That won't change any more this week than it has all season."

Tebow speaks to the media only on Wednesdays of a game week, but he appeared to be in excellent spirits after practice and told the Tribune-Review in a brief discussion, "I'm really looking forward to this."

Quinn did speak with the media and drew quite a crowd at his stall. He denied that he had taken extra snaps or that coaches had told him to be prepared to enter Sunday, at least any more than usual. He later denied, in a text to NFL.com, a Pro Football Talk report that he had split snaps with Tebow all week.

"I'm as ready as you can be," Quinn said after practice. "Obviously, the backup doesn't get many reps, if any, so you'll just try to go out there and do the best you can when you get the opportunity."

Quinn's insertion would carry an air of desperation. In four years with the Browns - Denver acquired him via trade in March 2010 - he made only 12 starts and completed 52 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns, nine interceptions and 20 sacks.

Over the final three games of the regular season, Tebow completed 30 of 73 passes for 439 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. That included a 6 for 22, 60-yard output in the final game against Kansas City, one that prompted Denver's executive vice president and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway to publicly admonish Tebow to "pull the trigger" and trust his arm.

Also yesterday, Denver announced that strong safety Brian Dawkins, a 16-year veteran and eight-time Pro Bowl selection, will not play because of a neck injury. Starting fullback Spencer Larsen is doubtful because of a knee injury.
