I'll take a shot at this.
"Just my opinion but where as I listen to Soul Sirkus quite frequently, Eclipse has sadly been relegated to the status of a beverage coaster."

Thanks for the translation Don. I think Stevew2's ghost has seeped into this message board.

S2M wrote:Soul SirkUS suffers from what Eclipse suffers from - lack of cohesive songwriting. You can have the best singer and guitarist in the world, but if the songwriting sucks....well there ya go.

That's my only complaint about Eclipse. The music kicks ass but I have no idea what half the lyrics mean. You almost need to PhD in Buddhism, Hindu or something like that to figure out what there trying to say.

S2M wrote:...just write the sappy love songs, and the uplifting anthemic epics we have all come to love....cut the shit Friga.
Ehwmatt wrote:Not nearly as good as W.E.T., and probably on par with Eclipse for me. It probably gets the nod over Eclipse just because it has some of the same attempts to "riff rock," but Jeff's style lends it more credibility. Let us know what you think.

I think the songwriting on "World Play" is just fine. Not the greatest but certainly not poor, either, and I'll take it over the WET album also.

I had a friend pirate it so I'm not sure which version. Any telltale signs to distinguish?

The drumming on the Donati version was in a different league. Shame i can't find any clips on-line to link you to.

I'm not quite sure who it is, I'm not familiar with enough of Donati's work, but the percussion isn't bad at all. Jeff's great and Neal's rhythm playing is tremendous, but this CD isn't without its flaws.
