Hi Neal!

Neal is known for reading what the online fan community has to say.
He's complained about Perryloons on the VH1 Journey board before and as recently as this past Andrew interview he bemoaned all the "happy horseshit" on the internet said about him.
Knowing this, it could be highly probable that Neal lurks here.
Hell, he just might even post here.
Imagine that.
If so, which poster do you think is most likely Neal Schon? (personally, my money's on Deano).
And if he is here, what would you like to say directly to the man.
Feel free to use this thread to do exactly that.
Now's your chance....

I'll go first;

Neal, why did you let the guys leave "It's Never Too Late" off the album? It's ur band.
You flubbed up big time with that choice.
Bad move.

He already answered that one!
Said the decision was made while he was out with SS. Granted, he could have done something about it...he basically pussed out on that!

Who would be Neal? ROCK'nDEANO OF COURSE!!

Questions, I have a TON!
Mostly, I would like to talk to him about future plans with Journey. I guess I would want to tell him my ideas, more than ask him anything. But I am sure that conversation would create questions and answers.

My main points would have to do with Touring Europe, Promotion of "Generations", following up with another tour in the States specifically pushing "Generations", LIVE CD/DVD, what are the complications nowadays with Perry. I could go on and on...

See my story in the Journey Obsession thread...too funny how it bounces off this idea.

Yeah I know that.
I want to know exactly why he pussed out.
Why was he so nonchalant over the subject of compiling the track list. When you know ur cd is gonna be given to thousands upon thousands of concertgoers a night, wouldn't u think that Neal would fret over getting it exactly right?
This cd will reach more people than Arrival, probably. So it's absolutely imperative that it flows as close to perfect as possible. Leaving that track off of "Generations" is almost as egregious an oversight as leaving "Ask the Lonely" and "Only the Young" off Frontiers.
Nonetheless, still enjoy the album.

Yep, my cover is blown.

Hey think about it..we both cuss up a storm.

I would ask him why Azoff is mismanaging Journey..(IMO)

I would ask him who the great young guitarists out there who he really likes. I mentioned Kenny Wayne Shepard over at BT, and was shot down..those people need lives...I asked, "who is the next Neal Schon?" The first 16 answers..Neal is neal..woohoo! Jesus! I wanted to puke.

I would ask him how much he would like to kick Steve perry's ass..not for being a dick, but for lying, and "putting their careers on hold" for about 6 yrs..

Oh, trust me, I got more.

I disagree entirely!!
I am so glad they made side 2 more adventurous. Plus, it probably kept the band "together" just a little longer. Maybe that is not a good thing, but at the time I think it was.

I'm all down for "adventurous", Rubicon, Frontiers, BackTalk - all adventurous, a tad experimental.
"Troubled Child" is just so very "feh" to me.

And I still contend that if "Generations" had INTL on it, it'd be the best Journey album quite possibly ever. What a blunder!

Neal, what were u thinking!?!?!

It's technically not released yet. Hell, He listens to fans better than anyone else I know in Music....

They could very well, get done with the tour, re-record the CD, add INTL, and boom..radio friendly up the ass!!
Get a label, on the radio, Perry Tards are more pissed, and we are pumped. Journey brings "Rock" back onto the airwaves.

See, I got it all figured out, NS...Fire that walking death stick already.

I would have to ask, where are the quests? What guests, me!!

also I would have to ask about coming back stage for the Biloxi, MS show on Sep 24 this year. It's me and my wife's wedding anniv. that night, and we are spending it with Journey. Heck we even turned down a trip to Texas for the show. But meeting the the guys and getting pictures and auto's would be a good night and make for a good anniv. We will be married 12 years that night. When I See You SMile was (is) our song, be good to hear that added to the show, even thou it is not a Journey song. So I wouldn't ask much :) -ERIC

When I go to a concert, I'd like to hear songs from Generations. That's the main reason I'm going to hear Journey again. I've heard the oldies till they're coming out of my ears! Generations is kick ass and needs to be heard! Find a way to get it on radio, and release The Place in Your Heart. Awesome Journey song, Steve sounds great, it's totally radio friendly and catchy.

Why did you wait so long to get rid of Perry, and why are you letting him appear to be the one who got the raw end of the deal? (NOT the way I see it, since I don't even buy the hip thing for several reasons.)

Why do you always tell people that Perry has a chance to come back, and that Steve would gladly step aside? I get that you are letting people know that Perry is the one who chooses to move on (although some will NEVER accept that), but I'd like to see you back up Steve more, especially since he's coming into his own and does an amazing job on Generations.

Thanks for finding the time to record "i on u." It's as awesome to the instrumental world as Generations is to the rock world.

Actually, he does, quite frequently. Read the Arrival interviews..He has nothing but good things to say about Augeri.

This is a good thread. Unlike BT, we are asking "real" questions, and questioning moves made by he and the band. No birthday bullshit, countdowns, or hip hip, hooray garbage.

If I had to add more one "request/bitch/question..it would be this..:

So you guys are going to re-record Generations for US release..cool. How about this idea. Lengthen your neat, clean up and down melodic solo on the end..FUCK! I love that sound..it would not deter radio play, and IMO, would enhance it....

Thank you Neal Fucking Schon! I love that guy..

Serious question. When Neal talks of "happy horseshit" what is he talking about? Is it the Happy Birthday/Let's hear it for Ross/Rock God/ and Countdown threads? It is a shame they are so fucking retarded over there, but they are tremendous fans....There is one guy going to all 12 California shows, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and more..WTF? Mix in a Reds game, or some college football..Hell, another band would be nice.

Well, I would ask him a few things Johnny Gioeli of Hardline told me, like :

Are you responsible for the Split of Hardline ???

Do you give a shit about your daughter that you have with the sister of Johnny Gioeli ???

Do you stole two Hardline songs for Arrival ???

Well, thats it so far. 8)

I forget the guy's name, but he made the same claim in Andrew's interview with him on this site. He claims that some of Neal's guitar work on Arrival was stolen from him.

Andrew prolly knows what I am talking about.

Yeah, I recall Johnny (or was it Joey) saying that some of the Arrival songs were from the Hardline sessions. He flat accused Neal of musical plagerism. However, it is my speculation that Neal probably created the riff to begin with. For whatever reason, Hardline did not use them. We all know that Neal can rememebr every note, every riff he ever came up with and played so it probably fit in a Journey song so he used it! It really smacked of "sour grapes" from the Hardline guy.

Neal Schon was the best thing that ever happened to the Gioeli brothers as most people would never have heard of them without Neal. If you are talking to Johnny, ask him why he feels the need to spread crap about Neal on the net, but he still had no problems using Neal's name and talent to promote their last CD?

I would also ask Johnny, even if he believes whatever he does about Neal, how does it help his niece to talk smack about her father publicly? I think it shows a total lack of class on Gioeli's part and yours for bringing up this old news from an interview that has to be about 2 years old now.

There was obviously some bad blood when Hardline split. It didn't help, I'm sure, that Neal had been married to the Gioeli's sister and they divorced--so more bad blood. It was probably 1 1/2- 2 years ago that Johnny did an interview in which he said a few not-nice things about Neal, but I'm not quoting him to just perpetuate the whole (probably slanderous) thing.

The whole deal was prolonged because there was an argument about the situation over on the VH1 boards that got out of hand as VH1 often did. But then Hardline II comes out and there is a Neal song on it that the Gioelis had no problem talking up, so to me it seemed that Johnny has issues with Neal until he wants to use his name and talent. Typically Neal took the high road and chose not to get into the whole thing publicly. And I don't know why somebody is coming over here to dredge up this old news now anyway.

Sour grapes. None of us want to hear dirty laundry. They need to get over it and get on with their lives and careers. I suppose if they wanted, they could go start an Anti Neal Schon board. Then leave us in peace to discuss Journey.

Short version,

Neal was dating the sister of the Gioeli bros, he found out that the two bros had this Band called Brothers. They wanted him to just produce it but after the split of Bad English he wanted to be in this Band and after some time he was. The name was changed to Hardline, the rest is well known to many of you.

After the split of the Band he divorced with the Gioeli sister having a child with her.

And the the two tunes Worlds Gone Wild and Higher Place are stolen, I heard the Demos.

Well, talk about Journey, their latest CD is really cool 8)

That would be one version--probably Johnny's, since there are
definately other versions. If you were not there, you don't know the truth and I'd be careful how you start throwing around accusations as to things being "stolen". Let's think how many songs Neal has written through the years and how many songs any Gioeli wrote to figure out who probably did the significant writing in Hardline. Having a Gioeli standing in the room when Neal is writing something doesn't give someone else the writing credit. You also did not comment as to why you are bringing this up after how many years or why Johnny used Neal's name and talent to promote Hardline II after having trashed him several times publicly?
