Abita, who gives a DAMN what this dude Angie says?
He will never be heard outside the confines of Sioux Falls Community College.
Radio nowadays DOES suck because for the most part the stations have the same 150-200 songs in rotation constantly. And YOU can't do a thing about it. Don't presume to tell us otherwise just because you're afraid you'll be out on the street looking for work (got opening for a fry cook when you're ready) like the REAL DJs who gave up that bullshit job if you don't defend playing Crazy Train for the 9th time today.

Hey brainiac, Angie is a FEMALE name, not just your drag name. I'm sure that's where you get confused.

Not get back to serving up the chicken McNuggets.

OMG..you truly are a moron. I have worked for this radio company for ten years and this station I'm on right now for five years. I hardly think what I say to a bunch of webbies is going to get me fired. As a matter of fact, I am friends first and formost with my program director. I've been telling him everything that goes on and what is being said here. HE was at the Journey show and HE is the first to tell you that the new Journey music will not be played on his station.

So, thanks for playing....DUDE.

This is the longest "goodbye" in history. How many posts ago was it you threatened to sign off? Anyway since you're still here shooting your keyboard off tell us Why will it not be played :?: Because of a perceived slight the band lowered on your town at the concert? What is the reason the song(s) will not be played :?:

Where did I say goodbye? Lay off the crack, Sparky. If you spent half as much time actually READING my posts, you'd find the answer and not make yourself look like an idiot. If I say goodbye to anything, it will be wasting my time talking to a brain dead loser like you. In fact, I think that's a good idea. Goodbye to YOU. Good luck with your promotion to fry cook.

What was this then, 2 pages ago?

"I think I'll pass. I can see this place is not much different then Back Talk. If you don't agree with Journey fans or kiss the bands ass, you're dense, arrogant, uncooperative, and you are called names and sworn at. Thanks, but no thanks, I don't need that.

Good luck to you all."

I don't frequent BackTalk and will not feed into your attention junkie ego and go looking for what you deemed to write there. Instead astonish us all with a REAL rationale (other than the fact the JRNY didn't appease your sense of entitlement to free cds and encores despite prior announcements and reduced ticket prices) as to why your PG will not let you play the new song.

I guess I would like to hear a clear answer on this as well.

From what I gather, the radio station feels Journey slighted the SF fans. Since there has been no other official answer as to why the show went the way it did, I am assuming the radio station has decided that Journey was just wrong.

The only answer given RE: the situation is that all FAIR shows are a 90 minute set. Journey actually played a 110 minute set including the music usually reserved for an encore, but did not play an actual encore.

The promotion of the show, as far as I can tell, was left up to the radio station. Journey did not commit to a longer set, the length of the set was never verified by the station. Journey still performed "An Evening With Journey" since there was no opening act.

So now Angie is apparantly gauging listener reaction of the show (which, by all accounts I have read, was a good show just too short/no encore) and equating that to interest in the new material.

Furthermore, Journey has yet to 'officially' provide "Generations" for airplay. However, as Angie herself stated, that action is usually left to the record label. Since Journey just signed to Sanctuary, who is in the works to release the CD, this responsibility would befall Sanctuary when the product is ready. So this should actually have no bearing on the decision whether to play this material or not. Effectively, Angie's radio station has 'an exclusive'.

I say play the music, and actually let the audience decide. "Smash it or trash it"....

The reason I "went after Angie" was to get to the bottom of this...For her reasons, she doesn't want to rehash it, and I'm fine with that.

Journey STILL should have said SOMETHING. ANYTHING. But nope, on buses, and poof!

Yes, it hasn't even been released for airplay yet, so her complaints of asking for a copy to play and not being immediately gratified ring hollow.

And the rest of your post is accurate and echo my opinion. It's a tit for tat little fit over not being given an encore and a free cd, known time contraints and prior notification from the band be damned.

And what of the objects being thrown at the band by those good and deserving people?

Oh, and Red wonder boy? Radio stations recieve singles up to two months before a cd is released to the public.

Why? Why rehash it? There would be no "open discussion". I feel the way I do, Journey fans feel the way they do, we've established that. I'm not going to change my mind that they cheated us out of the three hour show WE WERE TOLD and no encore(along with the the skipped interviews and no cd) . Same with the cd. We probably won't play it because of what happened and because they were so rude when asking for a lousy copy. I'm sorry none of you like that answer but that is probably why it won't be played on our station. End of story.

Right there is a reason to rehash.
My understanding is that you were NOT told you were getting a 3 hour show. My understanding is that the promoter/radio station/whatever never verified the length of the set. They said it was up to the band, but it appears they never asked. Journey DID do an "Evening With Journey" since there was no opening act. And they have been doing "An Evening With Journey" off and on over the past 3 years and they were never 3 hour shows before.

Seems like there was fault on BOTH sides of this issue.

I agree that Journey could/should say something. But it won't solve anything. It would just be a he said/she said situation.

ER, um listen, you twit. THat's what I'm talking about. You're in here ranting and raving about the band not giving you the cd to play after a show that happened a week or 10 days ago when the single wasn't supposed to be released TO RADIO on 8/22. that's about 1 and 1/2 months before it goes on sale, yes I understand that. No radio stations had it at that point, brainsurgeon. so you, even in that megalopolis you live in, should not be surprised about that. Stick to reading copy handed to you over the air. It makes you seem smarter than you do posting on your own brainpower.

Yes, loyal people who are interested in the stuff beyond just the music. People who understand there are reasons behind why things happen. People who don't just say, "Oh, Journey only played for 110 minutes. They must hate Sioux Falls!" Journey has a great history of listening to and appreciating their fans. Neal Schon got hit with a bottle back in the '80's and kept playing with blood running down his face. That's putting the fans first. It's pretty stupid to base your entire feelings of a band on one incident that is not even their fault, it was the fault of management of the band and the fair. Journey simply shows up and plays the set they are paid to play.

And real slick the way you avoided telling Red13JoePa he was right and you were wrong about the single release. We can all see that admitting a mistake isn't your nature.

Wait a second, smartguy.
Care to answer Yak's question about why we should blindly support what's ever on radio? What if it's boringly repetitive like most radio stations on FM are now? And I'm not saying yours is (cuz I don't know) but your "support it" theory does not allow for what happens when we don't like what's being played.

And your pg's decision to withhold airplay of TPIYH because of your senses of entitlement about what the band OWED you and your city is absurdly, childishly vindictive.

Would you people just knock it off? You've ALL gone from blowing up the 'incident' in SF all out of proportion to comparing it to "No More Bottles". It's just nuts.

If you care so much about the music, the band, and the 'stuff' beyond that, then stop harping on crazy things like this and move on. If Journey doesn't care enough to correct the mistakes they made, why do you all care? It's just stoopid.

If some minor station in SF doesn't want to play the Cd, who cares? This release has been so screwed up, I don't know why ANY station would want to play it anyway. The CD is sposed to be released in WEEKS and they don't even know what songs are on it...and yet radio is sposed to promote it? Come on...Journey has other things to worry about, and you all should too.

This has become WAY too personal now and people need to stop and think about how loony they are acting about something so pathetic.
