Radio Interview- Big Time

Postby Rockindeano » Wed Aug 24, 2005 3:08 am

Here is my thought...Again, if I were Manager(which wouldn't be any worse than current), I would try to book this interview.

Howard Stern. Yep, Howard Stern. Now, before you all hit the keys in a rush to condemn, think about the HUGE upside. Forget about Sterns' behaviour. If Journey were to go on there, and play a song live, like tons of bands do, it would go a long way. Aerosmith, Blues Traveler, Staind, Papa Roach, Velvet Revolver and Green Day have all been on recently, and while I am not a fan of all those listed, they have enjoyed popularity bumps. You can't tell me the most popular radio show in history's listeners, which are also the heaviest populated, would not take notice..especially PRIOR to the Jones Beach show! This is a no brainer!

Now I know Stern has always commented on how good Schon is..but he has also said, "I hate that Goddamned Steven Perry." but so what? Perry is gone..Augeri, being a New Yorker, would fit in..

I know Artie always references Journey on the show.

What do you all think? Please reserve your opinions of Stern himself, and concentrate on the hype and popularity bounce the Band would get.

Good idea, Dean.
People have suggested this at BT before, but all the red stater conservative yahoos have a fit because Stern is such a potty mouth. However, Journey would work nicely on Stern. Stern has been known to comment on his immense dislike for Steve Perry. Back when Stern was a struggling DJ covering some musical event, he encountered Perry and Perry pointed at Stern and started calling him "big bird".
Stern told this story on the air a bunch of times, saying how happy he was now that the prick is gone.
I believe Stern also might have recounted this same story in his Private Parts autobiography.

He'd make fun of the voice similarity a little bit but the benefits of the exposure would far outweigh that.

Plus if, like Deano said they played (2 songs, one Perry and one new) live on the show Stern would praise the hell out it....

I have become increasingly aware that Journey just do not know how to be pro-active. It is as if they just don't care. Even the local interviews they are doing are done the day of the show, maybe the day before. There interviews should have been done a week or so before a local show so that it helps create excitement, awareness and ticket sales.

How can things that seem so blatantly obvious to so many, seem so foreign to the band? I think it is is apathy...

Another idea, that was actually raised and praised on BT...LENO before the last show, to give away the Ness Motorcycle and the check to charity. It is perfect, play up the charity work, the motorcycle, the last show, the new CD and PLAY A NEW SONG ON THE AIR!!

This should be at the end of the "Summer Concert Series", the acts usually play more than one song. The other is uploaded onto the Tonight Show site. Have Steve and/or Jon sit with Leno for the 2nd segment, have the rest of the band come out to give away the bike, then head outside for the live song. And since this will also be near the release date of the CD, play the damn single!

It seems they are doing for 'enough' money, but they don't want to 'work' for it!

That's the BEST fucking idea I have heard from anyone yet! Leno loves stuff like that. And the Tonight Show is a great demographic for them. Someone call Assoff now!!!

She told Rock to *Ahem* "Go back to Melodicrock.com and beat up on Irving some more, Dean."

Dick maneuver using his real name, too. He's not there as RockNDeano.

I think Stern and his lowbrow comedy style should fit the new Journey and its low quality style really well.

It's sad to see people who need to bash successful people to try to validate their lives. Sorry your life is so empty that this makes you feel better.

I don't even read that fucks' comments anymore..Simply a waste of breathing air..I am telling you all...That's HOTS...

You all laughed at me when I brought up the ineptitude on Journey Mgt, and now look is right! You choads owe me on that one! (by the way, it's not irving actually, it's John Baruck or something like that..still sucks tho)..and if CJ wants to dispute that, she can, but she would be wrong in doing so...
Now, I am also saying Soleshit is HOTS.. Want to go against me again??
It's obvious now, that they are so negative and bitter because they are in fact losing...As bad as Journey's Mgt is, they are still beating the 'Heads....

The Tonight show idea was mine a longtime back, about a week before the Tour, but I used a word incorrectly and it was shelved at BT..so someone stole my idea.
Soledad, I know you are a chick, and I know you are HOTS..because no guys complain about Sterns' behaviour...that would be gay..(no need to comment Abitaman..I know your reasons, and that is cool)..

Anyway, Redfaced13GrandpaJoedickiswitheringawayata8lossseason, it's ruckus, not rucus...

So do most radio personalities. Yet bands have to use them to reach their audience and sell tickets and albums. Do you not know that?

I'm a "chick", sometimes Stern is funny, otherwise his show is very foulmouth and they need soap in their mouths - LOL

Journey has a new cd out there, they need all the publicity they can get.

Leno is a great idea.

Here's a link for feedback, just scroll to musical guest. Hopefully you can get enough people out there to respond and request them

http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Tonight_Show ... l#feedback

Since I had to quick click off the main page at Stern's site (what a pervert - LOL), my very young children are home, here is the email to write to his show:

sternshow@howardstern.com

If you need information for more daytime/night time shows, just let me know :) Doesn't hurt to write the stations and request Journey.

Don't YOU have control over what gets stickied and what doesn't? For a while there, I thought you gave Deano the access to do that.

No, all users have access to that!

Perhaps I should re-think that :)

As for Stern? He and Journey have nothing in common and I cannot see it doing any good.

I would change it. I'm on the randyrhoads.tk board also, and only the admins have access to deciding the stickies. I"m okay with Deano, NIG, Red13 and some others having the access, but that opens it up for us getting "stuck" with some uneccessary topics by undeserving newbs.

I don't think there are any 'undeserving newbs'. Anyone should be able to post a sticky. But if Andrew feels so, he should unstick it...
