Uh, no, I just said in a previous post that I was done talking to that asshole. But since you ask, they usually don't send radio the releases until the album is pressed. Since Journey didn't even have a record label until about five minutes ago but they have been handing out these cd at their concerts for months now, there is absolutely NO reason they couldn't find their way to radio stations in the markets they were going to be playing for EXPOSURE, INTEREST in the cd and oh, yeah, it might have helped ticket sales along the way. It's called piss poor management and insight.

No mistake here.

Monker, I agree with you that if Journey isn't responsible enough to admit a mistake, then we should probably let it go; or harp on their ass to get it right. However, the more I try to compile facts, maybe Journey WAS NOT wrong at Sioux Falls..Throwing bottles at the stage is an automatic ticket punched for departure asap...this isn't the Blues Brothers singing "Stand By Your Man" and "Rawhide."

Angie, I have apologized for my personal attack, but I do think it is wrong not to play their new music because tyou folks thought you were wronged that night...That really is BS IMO....o well though, it is a free country, at least for now, until dipshit names 2 more Supreme Court Justices, and we won't be able to hear any rock and roll because it will be deemed Satanic...Heck, I was worried about Roe v Wade...That's a sure fire goner..I am hoping to keep my right to swear, let alone vote! These People are scary, and guess who was/is a major contributor to the GOP...?? Clear Channel.. Yup, that's right.

Anyway, can you all please call a truce and end the Angie versus 13 and fernando and all that shit...

He is not an asshole, he is one of the best and most respected posters in this forum. Now you change your story instead of admitting Red13JoePa called you out after you tried to call him out. You are wrong. Sioux Falls is wrong. And Journey is not perfect, but they are not wrong in leaving a place where people throw shit at them. Sioux Falls will be lucky if Journey even considers playing that town ever again. Believe me, none of us give a shit if your station plays the new single. It will have zero effect on anyone in Journey's life. Just like your town left a bad taste in Journey's mouth, you have left a bad taste in all of ours.

Angie, please (and I know it won't carry much weight after all you and I've been through together) try an give the place in your heart a few spins and see what happens. What do you say :?: I think you like the band in spite of what's gone on in here.

Cry me a river. After that last show the people of Sioux Falls wouldn't pay $2.50 to see Journey. Well, good, if we are all wrong I'm glad you don't care if I don't play it, cuz that's exactly what will probably happen. I'm not changing my story. Any other band with a record label would have had that album to a radio station within two months of release. AGAIN(for the slow ones)since Journey already was distributing this MONTHS ago, it should have been at a radio station already.

The thing is, they DO care or they wouldn't keep going on and on and on about it.

I remember it being posted here that Sould Sirkus did a simular thing...A quick set, no encore, and rush out of the building. I don't recall people griping about that forever.

It's insignificant in the big picture of things.

But yet they keep harping on me to explain who what where why and how, when I've gone through it a million times. They have their side, I have mine.

Well, have you listened to the cd at all, Angie? While it is true that the cd is being given away at shows as a www.journeymusic.com product, that version is not being sold in stores or even on the journeyswag site, so with the USA Sanctuary cd deal [if it still exists  ] being slated for sale/ release on 10/4, giving the single to the radio soon would put it into your "dj-spec" for playing by industry rules [whatever they are]. I'm not sure that any band plays by the so called rules anymore.

Tastes like bullshit. Journey just recently signed to a label. The label is the entity that is responsible for getting singles played on the radio. And if you had read the interview with Neal Schon that Andrew conducted and recent news that Andrew has posted, you would know that the plan is to give away the CD on this tour, release it on Sanctuary with extra tracks in October, tour again next year once the CD has been on the market. Next year's tour will feature more songs from Generations being played live.

And if Journey played Sioux Falls next year, it would sell out. People have probably already forgotten about the "short" 110 minute set. It is only important to you.

Got my first listen to the cd on the way home from Mohegan Sun and thought it all sounded OK. But the second time around WOW, this song floored me...This song SHOULD move up the charts quickly, IMO...:)

While your about-face is touching, I'm sure the few dozen listeners of my "100 watt community college radio station" in our big megaopolis would rather listen to this twit read handed off copy.

OK, gotta be wary of digressing in this because it wastes the Man's bandwith. BBUUUTTT...... That table that Chris Everett turned over like it was a piece of pizza box carboard was like a 6-inch marble BRICK. Must of wighed a ton and Everett tossed it aside on his way to Rome like it was Neal Schon airplane spinning a "head" during an argument . THere, kept it JRNY related.

Hmmm

Postby Eric » Thu Aug 25, 2005 3:26 am

Journey will have a tough time getting airplay of course anyway, but here are reasons why the "big 4" off of Generations won't be received well, which is unfair.

Place in Your Heart - "They sound the same as 25 years ago he-he-he".

Faith in Heartland - The fact is, that the 7 minute version is good, I don't see where 2.5 minutes or more could be cut and the songs overall strenght preserved.

A Better Life - "It doesn't sound like Journey" OR "They had to have their drummer sing this because that Perry clone couldn't"

Out of Harms Way - ""It doesn't sound like Journey" OR "They are trying to profit off the war".

It's this kind of thinking that diffuses music today. "I've gotta do this for radio", "The song can't be more than 3 or 3.5 minutes for radio"... WHO THE HELL CARES! Radio's not going to support you ANYWAY, Journey! It's been proven on this board!

Great music doesn't cater to a big corporation's whims, IT JUST IS WHAT IT IS. And despite what most people feel, I believe it's great that Journey chose to take it to the people with the cd giveaway at concerts. They were willing to try something new, that only PRINCE has done, and it worked well for him. And it's not Journey's fault some of the venues are controlled by organizations that WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO GIVE OUT THE CD FOR SOME BULLSHIT REASONS.

I will be there for the SA show, I'll get my CD because my venue doesn't have bullshit reasons to prevent me getting the CD, and I'll rock my ass off that night as a happy Journey fan!
