New Augeri Interview

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Thu Sep 15, 2005 7:49 am

For those who wanted Andrew to interview veteran behind-the-scenes Journeyman, Kevin Elson, this interview might quell those desires. Augeri talks about their relationship as singer and producer.
Interesting read.

No wonder Augeri is such a sweet, happy guy. Ignorance is bliss and he is so full of humble bliss, imo.

Please explain why you think Steve is "ignorant".
Quit being vague, back up just ONE of your claims for a change.

We think alike, Dave. And they wonder why we get pissed. If she backs up her opinion with an intelligent argument, we would respect her. We don't ask for much, do we?

Time to get this thread back on track, since some who come here clearly can't read as well as they can embellish the truth.

Thanks for posting this, NC; interesting stuff about Kevin Elson. Liked hearing that Steve said the tour's going great (which it is). He just needs to come out of his shell and stop being so danged humbled by it all. Humility's a great characteristic, but he's got to know he's got the audience with this summer's tour.

The guy is not ignorant.
If anything, Augeri is the exact opposite.
He's WELL aware of the reality of his situation.
He's on record stating that he knows the majority of people only come to see him cuz his voice sounds like Perry's.
Stating, ""Frankly, I know where my bread is buttered, and the reason why I'm here in the first place is because I sounded like Steve."
The guy's also aware of the capricious nature of his success and has said far too often that if Perry were to return he'd be a goner.
How much more real can you possibly get?
HOTS is an idiot.

" He has as much right, if not more, to be there and recieve the honor as I do."............Augeri YOU DON'T!

What Journey fame does he have a right to? For what? Covering Journey's Greatest Hits and being lead vocal on their flops. He is not humble. The fame has nothing to do with him. If Deen could acknowledge this, why couldn't he? He's a wimp and sings like a wimp, imo.

LOL! I knew that line would piss you people off. He could have worded it better, yes, but he did deserve to be there. Not as much as Perry, of course, but he deserved to be there b/c he is helping the Journey to continue.

And if you think Augeri is a wimp, check this out:

Yeah, she is one of the ones who thinks Journey is too hard rock now, yet she calls Augi a wimp. How is that possible?

But at least she pointed out the specific part of the interview that bothered her, clearing up the vagueness of her original point. Thanks for that.

I kinda figured that was the part, too. But like TNC said, Steve certainly DID belong there. It has already been acknowledged that, had Journey NOT continued and found old and new fans, the group that woked so hard to make the HWOF happen would never have tried. It is BECAUSE of Steve Augeri that there was a HWOF Ceremony AT ALL!

But his comment is not ignorant in the least! Poor choice of words by Steve, even POORER choice by HOTS!

I'll concede that Perry has much more right to be there than Augeri.
I too, am slightly suprised with Augeri's less than discriminate choice of words there.

heardonthestreet wrote:YOU DON'T!

Steve Augeri has kept the band afloat since Perry cravenly deserted the band (for the second time) and Augeri def. has a right to be there.

heardonthestreet wrote:He is not humble.

Why?
Because of ONE faux pas?
The guy has always been extremely respectful to Steve Perry and the legacy of this band.
Yeah, so, his word choice this time out left something to be desired.
Big Whoop.

heardonthestreet wrote:If Deen could acknowledge this, why couldn't he?

Deen is entitled to feel however he wants. Steve Augeri has still kept the band afloat since Perry cravenly deserted the band and Augeri has a right to be there.

I think you have your Journey singers mixed up.
Augeri is a rocker.
Perry was the one prone to singing maudlin wimpy trash like "Donna Please" & "Summer of Love".

"She," and I use the term loosely, threw out a hot potato, and has not once come back in to argue her statement..I counted 5 people..5 people, who have just argued with a ghost! She isn't coming back in here to argue this! She has achieved what she has set out to do....You wil next see her in another thread, at another time, doing the same shit.

Count em....5 people, just wasted their time.....

But Deano, it's still fun to try to convert her to the new Journey! Doesn't mean you have to hate the old Journey...

I'm in "total disagreement" that Augeri or Deen "deserved to be honored with a star" at the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Now there would have been nothing wrong with them being there & being in the background.

They were NOT a part of Journey during the time those GREAT HITS were made. They had NO part of the song writing, singing or playing the music that made Journey famous.

I just don't think that just because they are part of Journey NOW that EARNS them a right to be honored with a star.

OK, Lori. So if you worked someplace for 8 years, and the company was honored, but you were told to stand in the background because your efforts would not be recognized, you would accept that? Even though you were one of the main reasons the company still existed?

What an inaneity.
That is not the way the world works ANYWHERE. I also happen to believe that if Shcon and Cain had let things be status quo after the Deja Vu of the ROR fiasco (it was ROR redux, only without the tour) and not replace Perry there would have been no star.

Yes NIG, IF I worked for a company that was being honored for some thing that I was NOT PRESENT for, I would have NO PROBLEM stepping a side to let the ONES who "deserve the credit" for the years of hard work & accomplishments that THEY earned.

I would NOT feel comfortable taking part in recieving an award in something that I was NOT a part of, I believe that I would have to EARN my award in the same way that most people do, "by doing the hard work", NOT just "get it" because I happen to be working for the company years later after the fact. That is just how I feel.
