Interestingly enough, I just heard the other day that the Stones are having difficulty getting any airplay for the very same reasons Journey don't...They are pegged a CR band, but CR stations don't play much new materail by CR bands. So I think the word "tons" is exaggerated. The Stones iconic status will afford them some more airtime than Journey...but they have a big label backing them and they are STILL struggling to get their new material played.

See again "iconic status". But I am grateful that Journey were willing and able to finally mix up their setlist this year. The Stones may be an icon, but their shows can still be boring if it is the same setlist year after year...

Hi Dave,

Here's how The Rolling Stones did in CD sales in selected countries throughout the world: Directly from their website.

The Rolling Stones' "A Bigger Bang" has made a big impact on sales charts across the globe. Released just last week, the album now finds itself sitting atop charts worldwide.

Check out the partial list of sales rankings collected from countries far and wide:

Austria #1
Canada #1
Denmark #1
Germany #1
Italy #1
Holland #1
Slovenia #1
Sweden #1
Switzerland #1
Iceland #2
Mexico #2
Norway #2
Poland #2
Spain #2
UK #2
France #3
USA #3
Australia #4
Belgium #4
Japan #5 (#3 on International charts)
Portugal #5
New Zealand #9
Arabia #16
Ireland #18
Argentina #1
Brazil #1
Hong Kong #5

I agree that the Stones set list is predictable.

Will Journey's new CD do as well in each of the countries?

I don't think anyone here cares how Gens sells. It blows away any Stones record, esp. the new one.

Name the last JOURNEY CD that hit #1 in the US.

Oh, and the #3 ranking in the US matches TBF... whoop-de-fucking-do. Maybe the Stones album will ship a million records and fade into oblivion as well.

JourneyTroll,

Before I can gauge your response, I have to know what bands you would place in A, B, C and how far down you go. Because to be honest, if you are talking A - Z, I think Journey is a C level band. But if you are talking A-D, then I would disagree.

Also, why do you feel it necessary to bring up your education? Are you trying to impress us, or are you just insecure? I don't get it.

Well, thanks, but you know, you can only like what you like. And even though I was 5 yrs old when the first Journey album came out, I shared a room with my brother and I went to sleep every night to things like 'Of A Lifetime', 'In The Morning Day' and everything else off those first albums. You need to get Next, that was(IMHO) the record they really started changing their sound to a more melodic rock even before they hired Perry.

Later buddy!

There some definite gems off the first three albums. The songs I dug from that era are "Of a Lifetime", "Kohoutek", "Look into the Future", "Now You're on Your Own", and "Spaceman"

I just wished on the set Journey plays on this tour, that they'd actually play the full version of People and Places. Strangely enough, of all the Journey songs, that one was perhaps one of my favorites

Sean,

Yes, they are many great songs on those three albums, too bad they are overlooked by so many. The ones you mentioned are some of my favorites. I also think 'Anyway' is one of the best songs Journey ever did, and I love the title track off of 'Next' and 'In the Morning Day off of the first album is such a traditional Journey like ballad its uncanny. Dave and I were saying at the show back in Aug we wish they had just gone ahead and done all of People and Places too, that would have been very cool.

No, actually I've been 'listening' to them, since they were released, unlike you and your breed of Perry only lovers, I happen to like all the different lineups of Journey and have the intelligence to appreciate the difference each member of Journey past and present brought to the 'sound' that made them Journey. Don't put your negativity on me just because your boy decided to retire and leave all loyal fans screaming for more...
