That is EXACTLY what riled up the Perry-only fans. There should be no "if"...

I made comments about that when it happened. I even posted about it on BT...whoo boy!

[quote="NoMoreTails"][quote="jrnyjetster"]I assume it was planned for Cain to speak as well. If, however, it was only planned for Neal, Ross, and Perry to speak, Jon should have spoken instead of Perry, as he has been in the band longer and made an equal contribution to its success.

OK , has anyone thought of this besides me>> Steve P shows up at the WOF with a bodyguard, could it have been a last minute decision? He said he didn't decide till the day before. Unless bodyguards are just a phone call away? And he arrives with note cards?

How did they know Steve was going to speak if know one knew he was coming? If it was planned that Jon was suppose to speak and he didn't get to because of Steve showing, shouldn't Jon be pissed?

I think someone had to know Steve was going to be there, even if it was just the mayor.

IMO, Augeri wore white cause he knows how much he looks like Tiny Tim and he wants to protray Tiny in" "Tiptoeing Through The Tulips," the life and times of Tiny Tim. He already has the hair and beady eyes and sings in the same key. Speaking of "filling someones shoes." That pic of him in white with his arms crossed over his heart was Tiny to a T. I hope he gets the part. He's such a sweet guy and so was Tiny. :)

I think it IS possible that his 'companions' were easy to put together, that is no problem. But I am curious why he felt the need to have them at all? Nobody else did. I know, I know....it was because he was such a HUGE star and no one else in the band ever was or will be...yeah, yeah, yeah. Spare me! Personally, it just exemplefies the big head he has...

boodles wrote:And he arrives with note cards?

This point IS a little more interesting. BUT, I think it is possible that he prepared for the appearance in advance...before deciding he was actually going to go. Kind of like 'well, if I was there, what would I want to say?'

boodles wrote:How did they know Steve was going to speak if know one knew he was coming? If it was planned that Jon was suppose to speak and he didn't get to because of Steve showing, shouldn't Jon be pissed?

I don't think Jon would be pissed at all. He, as all of them are, is a gentleman. Jon understands the impact Perry's appearabce would/did have. I am sure he was genuinely glad Perry was there, amd more than willing to let him take the time. In fact, there might have been a 'contingency plan' for IF Perry arrived. After all, Neal had been trying pretty hard to get Perry to show.

boodles wrote:I think someone had to know Steve was going to be there, even if it was just the mayor.

Maybe, but it doesn't really matter. If they knew, hey, it's cool that they kept it a surprise. However, imagine how much larger the crowd would have been if Perry's appearance would have been announced? So I am not sure what the motive would have been to keep it a surprise.

Hey, I just LOVE the WAY Perry SUPRISED EVERYONE & blew us all away, by coming to the WOF!!!! That was BRILLIANT, as HOT said!!! :D

It doesn't matter to me when he prepared his speech, or if anyone knew he was coming, or not, what MATTERS is the fact that HE CAME, that is all that really matters!!! :D

I actually agree with you Lori.
I am glad he showed up, as I am sure all of Journey was glad that he showed up. Perry was a big part of Journey's success, everyone knows it. Perry IMO needed to be there.

But, I am curious how OhSherrie and HOTS really felt about it. Because, for the longest time, the two of them kept expressing the belief that Perry would not show up because that would show some sort of acceptance of Journey continuing...

Hey, great pic of Perry! Thanks, NC.

That was a way out of line remark about the victims of the flood but not unexpected from the likes of you. Don't you ever think before you post. :?

This is as transparently phony as the time you admonished me for "hurting Augeri's feelings" in my "I would've preferred Chalfant" thread.
As if you give two shits about Augeri's feelings (or the victims of Katrina, for that matter).

Pretty disgusting denigrating the flood victims just to get in a cheap shot about Perry. Pretty damn disgusting. I really don't care about the comment about Perry, but saying that shit about the flood victims should warrant you a warning from Andrew. You clearly have no shame, and will stoop to whatever level to make your point.

How come Augeri always looks like he's being goosed in his pictures? With the thousands of pic's of Perry out on all the sites, it's rare to find a bad one so I guess we must consider the source.

Oh please.
People regularly crack wise about great tragedies that have befallen the world (Vietnam, Depression, Holocaust).
The only difference is I didn't wait ten years until it was comedically "safe" to do so.

Besides, the joke didn't denigrate the drowned victims, it denigrated Steve Perry.

Soledad? wrote:I really don't care about the comment about Perry, but saying that shit about the flood victims should warrant you a warning from Andrew.

Hey, Perry looks bloated.
That's not my fault.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....
Your feigned indignation and newly discovered sense of morality is too much.
Stop.
It hurts.

Well, I'll just let you know how I felt,.

I actually surprised myself. I was glad he showed up and I think he handled it exactly right. He kept it quiet until that day so as not to appear to be grandstanding. Then when he got there he was as gracious in his remarks to the fans as he's always been. I don't see any way that he could have handled it better.

Oh, and I think he looked great in the pics I've seen.

You're a sick piece of shit, Noble Cause. You're as far beneath "noble" as you could possibly be.

You might not like my negative comments about the current Journey line-up, and that's fine. You might even put me down for my comments, and that's fine too.

But don't put down flood victims. That's disgusting. Anyone on this board could have a relative or someone they know who drowned in the flood, and yet you callously dismiss that possibility and post a crude comment. Shame on you.

This has NOTHING to do about Journey, and you know it. It is low of you to equate ANYONE with flood victims. The flood victims deserve better than that.

I already covered this....
Equating Perry's rotund apperance to that of a bloated corpse is a swipe at no one else other than Perry.

Besides, HOTS likewise invoked the appearance of the dead (ridiculing the characteristics of the late Tiny Tim).
Seems to me that if you were truly such a morally scrupulous man you'd be all over HOTS for invoking the appearance of the deceased, as well.

Which proves my initial contention: you're a transparent phony.

Agreed.
Even rotting corpses deserve to be put amongst better company than the offensively venal Stephen Ray Perry.

You have no moral footing to stand on.
You started with the lead singers/deceased people comparisons (Steve Augeri to Tiny Tim analogy).
I just did it back - bigger, better, and none too suprisingly, funnier.

Perry looked very happy. But he does look bloated. I mentioned at the time that Perry looked like his top button was too tight...

Also, I mentioned that the pics of Perry at the first baseball game made him look like actor/comedian Kevin Pollack.

But who really cares how Perry or any of the guys looked. Neal looked like he forgot there was an event that day. Ross' recent promo pictures look rather 'light in the loafers'. So what?

Just remember HOTS, YOU started this by comparing Steve to Tiny Tim! YOU brought this about.

Of course I can't speak for him, but I think I can understand how he might have felt. I had teachers, professors and bosses over the years that I just loathed having to deal with at the time, but over the years I've come to respect their efforts on my behalf. Time has a way of changing our perspective on things. He still may not like everything Herbie did, but maybe he recognizes the merits of his efforts on the behalf of Journey.
