Ugh! That artwork for Generations is buttugly.

Just a random thought!

We had numerous lively threads on this matter already.
Where were you then?

Nonetheless, I have to concur with you. It's as if they took the Captured scarab and threw it ontop of an Astronomy book (Dave's wording, not mine).
I mean, I kinda like it.
I dig the galactic motif, but they could do alot better.

Thanks for the credit! I would hate to see you plagerizing my words...;)
I have gotten used to the artwork, but the scarab is crooked and the "beam" is not centered.

As for the ecard, I got it today and I sent it to everyone I know. Pretty cool!

Yeah, in concept it's cool (the celestial scarab engendering a planet with it's powerful beam is kinda evocative of a retro sci/fi Frontiers-ish feel).
Too bad the execution is slipshod.

I really like Trial By Fire and Frontiers. The whole scarab thing is weird to me after reading about what it symbolizes.

I don't get why it's on most of the Journey albums. I guess someone will enlighten me soon. I also wonder about the "lazy eight/infinity symbol", because I've read bizarre stuff about it as well.

The scarab "pushes the sun across the sky" everyday. It is a symbol of rebirth.

Love the artwork for this album. Can't understand the nitpicking.

Yo, NIG was the cover the same for the giveaway? What was it like, a cardboard sleeve with the Gens cover but no liner notes?

I didn't get one there, but I saw it. Yes, it is a cardboard sleeve with no liner notes.

Because I got in line too late. Was eating and drinking with friends. When we got there someone had already given them out. If I had tried harder I could have gotten one, but I already have one from a good friend who is currently giving up two months or more of his life to aid Katrina victims...

I'd say that they threw it atop an anatomy book which is why I consider it buttugly. It looks too threatening. The background looks like an evil face lurking out from the circle of wings. They could have made it look so much more inviting and restfull, say like a field of corn, waving in the breeze, with a pretty colbalt blue sky.

It is not a restful album. It is a ROCK album. Maybe David Pack's new CD can have him and Perry wearing nice cobalt blue sweaters around their necks?

A rock album, Nig? Because it's guitar driven, it's a rock album? Nawwwwwwwwwww! It's just prePerry band practice. The efforts to make it rock, ruined most of the songs, just as it did on Journey's first albums. Just my opinion tho. I think that the sound was better on their early albums tho.

The majority of tracks on this album are rockers.
If you can't even acknowlege this then you are def. drinking the piss.

So you bought the album and listened to it?
Cool.
Name the songs that are ruined by becoming too "rock".
Lets' discuss it.
