Augeri and a solo album...

Postby OpeningAct » Mon Sep 26, 2005 11:03 am

Does he have enough name recognition...outside of the hardcore Journey fans...to put out a solo album that will actually sell?

Err....considering that Journey itself barely seems to have enough name brand cachet to make units fly off shelves these days I think the answer is a big fat unequivocal "no".

However, hardcore Journey fandom may be all he needs to turn a profit.

If Kevin Chalfant can capitalize on his notoriety within the hardcore Journey community, (continually releasing albums and doing "ok") I imagine Augeri can, too.

You would earn a lot more respect if you actually answered the question.

Well I read that there was talk of Augeri coming out with a solo album. I have talked with people who, when I wear my concert shirt, say how they have heard the band has a new lead singer who sounds just like Perry. But, they never refer to him by name. I'm talking about the casual fans of the band, not the hardcores who post on the board.
Maybe if the cd was to be promoted right, it could sell, especially if the songs off Generation that are released for airplay catch on. I think it would be a shame if Steve puts out some kick ass solo work and it just falls by the wayside, or into the bargain bin.

I HIGHLY doubt Augeri has expectations for his album to crack Casey Kasem's top 40 or to get on TRL.
Like Kevin Chalfant, it will be targeted towards a niche audience of Journey loyalists and staunch melodic rock aficionados.

If that's the case NC, it will be a huge success then.
BTW...what does TRL stand for?

Hi Joe. It stands for Total Request Live and it is a vapid teenybopper MTV show where they play music videos that are the most requested in the country. Anyone who's anyone in the music biz frequently stop by. It's oft-cited as launching Carson Daly's career (if u can call it that).
All in all, it is a pretty shitty show.
