Two Fires is the Storm without Gregg...So, it's Josh Ramos and Kevin. It's a lot more guitar driven then the Storm was. I've always liked this CD...I think it may even be in the car right now. Kevin REALLY sounds good on it. I don't own the second Two Fires. If Kevin releases another CD, I'll buy the two together...which is what I did with his gospel CD and "Running With the Wind".

The second Two Fires cd is good, but not as good as the first. Kevin, also released a solo cd in 97 called "Running with the wind" and in 2004-"Back to Square One" . Both of which are good. In 2004 he formed a one off group and released a self titlted cd with Dokken's guitarist called "Shadow's Fade". Kevin also appeared on The Vu, which just got rereleased, and on the 707 cd.-ERIC

Thanks for all the questions and comments mentioned.

I do however, need a few more questions for him before mid-October, if possible.

Also, if you could see/hear Kevin perform 5 songs, which songs would you pick?

Thanks a MILLION everyone on here, I really appreciate it !!

Kevin Chalfant was the lead singer of The Storm. The Storm consisted of former Journeymen Gregg Rolie, Steve Snith, Ross Vallory with Josh Ramos on guitar and Kevin singing. It sounded very much like Journey, right down to the vocals. Kevin also started working with Journey when they reformed (before Perry came back) prior to TBF. He and Gregg had returned with Ross, Neal, Jon and Smitty!

Kevin has also sung for the bands 707, Two Fires (also with Josh Ramos) and solo. He continues to guest visit on tour with Gregg to do classic Journey duets.

I need to bump this one up :)

Are there anymore questions or comments that anyone would like to add.

Also, if you have a list of songs you would like to hear in the studio with Kevin and his band, please let me know.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate all the feedback :)

From and earlier thread, I think Journey's biggest mistake was not sticking with the oringinal (pre-TBF)reunion line-up. Having Greg and Smith there may have meant more legitimacy to some fans. (Not me personally, but to some). I think deciding to go with SP again was Journey's biggest blunder. Now, don't get me wrong, I am a fan of SA and the current line up, but it is another "What might have been" issue.

My question for Kevin would be for a little more info on why the Storm broke up. I know Ross and Smitty went back to Journey, but why not find replacements after the initial Journey reunion "fell through". Maybe someone on this board has more info on that.

Chalfant is known for being pretty outspoken (though still respectful) when it comes to Journey. In regards to their last album with Perry, I recall him saying something to the effect of "I had better songs stashed away in my sock drawer."
I am curious as to what he thinks about the guys' latest release "Generations".

Anything from 'The Storm' works for me.
Off the top of my head I would like to hear "You're Gonna Miss Me" and "You Keep Me Waiting". But again, most of the Storm's musical output was solid stuff.

When I met him, he seemed very docile or I just plain overpowered him. He seemed scared of me, I dunno.

He DID tell me he thought Generations was very good, a new cutting sound and at the same time, the Journey sound was preserved.

It's because you have that Herbie Herbert / Peter Grant intimidation factor.

Steve Smith left the Storm after the recording of the first album...he did not want it to be a long term thing...So, they would have only needed to replace Ross.

I think the reason they didn't record a third album is simply that Gregg was more into being solo then being in a band...especialy one that resembles Journey. So, without Gregg, there really is no "Storm". So, we got Two Fires instead.

So are you hiring me to manage your band?
