Something interesting re: Tall Stories/Augeri Interview

From a 2003 interview about the Independent Music Conference:

http://www.mantismagazine.com/feature.asp?f_id=17

Kevin Totoian and his group, Tall Stories, were signed to Epic Records in the early 90's. They were like every other young band newly contracted to a huge record label and assumed that having been "signed" they had now achieved stardom and success.

Their self-titled debut album did very well and spawned a huge radio hit. But soon after, "record label reality" set in and the band quickly began to learn about the negative sides of being "signed." Their second album was "shelved," meaning Epic was never going to allow it to be released. Contractually obligated to the label and no longer in control of their own music, careers or destiny, the band was forced to break up, essentially ending what had been a life's dream for the musicians.

I'd love to hear it.

I would imagine this is what Steve hinted at a while back when he had mentioned talking to his TS band mates. He said he was trying to release something, can Journey's status give Steve enough clout to get that CD back from Epic?

Hmmm....very interesting....

I think it's because of the whole influx of "Grunge" that killed the whole "80s Rock" vibe...
the same thing happened to my husband, Mark....he was in a band that toured with "'Til Tuesday" ("Voices Carry")....they toured as the opening act; really making strides with the music: so much so, that they were ready to be marketed as "The American Duran Duran"....

So anyway, their DEBUT album was shelved, BECAUSE OF GRUNGE!!

IMO, I think that's what also happened to Mr. Augeri.

Cool - I LOVE Til Tuesday. Aimee Mann has such a cool voice.
