Special Guests?

Postby heardonthestreet » Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:28 am

So the special guest appearence must be the son of Neal and the daughter of Jon. I'm impressed. If I were the guys, that would be hard to top. They must be proud.

Why hasn't anyone else appeared? Do they get paid? Are they waiting for a special invite? Anyone know?

I read it somewhere,PF. It might have already been or is yet to come. I can't remember where I read it but it was just recently.A one time appearence, I think

I don't know how many more shows they have yet, or where for that matter.

At one of the shows near "home" Neal and Jon's kids got out and played with the band a little. A treat for the band I am sure. And this is not "new" either, Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang made appearances during VH's last tour.

I know George had planned to make a few appearances but got involved with some other work (a new CD or two) that held him off. Gregg has been touring a little, but did not appear to be 'into the idea' of guesting. And he has said that this style of music is 'not where he is at right now'. However, he has played a few Journey tracks while out on tour so I doubt that is the reason. At least Robert and Aynsley and Smitty all were involved with either Warfield or the WOF show.

What does Jons daughter play?? Seems to me one of neals sons played with him in Minneapolis in the past as well. Nice idea!

As for the guests at the WOF and Warfield. I think the announcement about possible musical guests being discussed here was for the summer tour, wasn't it??

I think she plays the keys as well.

Actually, I think He and Deen's kid "opened" for Journey.

Well, the invite was issued before the WOF show which they played at.
I think, realistically, some of the older ex-members were probably not 'in shape' to play Journey music. Gregg certainly would be, but I already covered that. George could have practiced for a little while, but he was busy with some other projects. Smitty definately would have been up for it...but he does a LOT of other work as well. Drum clinics, personaly projects and studio work. Maybe it was just too much to schedule. I think that covers just about everyone...but is all speculative on my part.

Truth is, we just don't know.

He stated that he would NOT be an X member showing up in his Q&A at Fan Asylum. No mystery there

What do you mean? There were special guests.

We'll see them in the front row when the DVD is released.

Neal's son Miles played guitar on "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" with the guys at two shows in the bay area last weekend. The kid is VERY good. Jon's son Weston sat in at one show (Novato) on drums. Considering he's only 9, I was pretty impressed. He was *very* serious and kept a good beat. Both fathers were beaming on stage. (And "Uncle" Deen had a big grin watching Weston too) I gotta say as impressed as I was by Miles (who is a rock star in the making), I was even more impressed by Weston. I can't imagine being 9 years old, sitting on a stage in front of 5,000 people playing with a hugely successful rock band, even if my father was in the band!

Jon's daughters, and a few friends, also came out and sang the "na nas" as they've done in the past.
