If he meant Journey to a majority of the public, Journey would not be selling the number of tickets and playing the size venues they play..
If that were the case NMT wouldn't those people be buying the new stuff as well as the classic stuff that's been rereleased?.... They are showing an overwhelming preference for the Perry/Journey material. I'm saying the majority of the general public that is interested in Journey is associating that name with Steve Perry..
Its my opinion that it is the songs people recognize that sells the old stuff rather than Perry's name or likeness being attached to them. I was under the impression that the 2001 DVD, containing the hits but no Perry, did pretty well for a DVD.

We talked about that being a fact of the band's life in the thread about the Houston DVD. It can't be true in one instance and not in another...
I don't believe the majority are giving any thought at all to Steve Perry, nor did I agree to that in another thread, you must be thinking of someone else. I recall discussing Perry's thinking he is Journey--the "integrity" thing--but not the public thinking he is Journey. I would agree that some are looking specifically for Perry, just as I would buy something because Neal is on it. But not the majority, they are looking for Journey's Greatest Hits, etc, not for something Journey with Steve Perry's name and picture on it.

I haven't disagreed with that. As I posted before,
The majority are looking for the songs they recognize, not for Perry's name on the product. However, most keep coming back and crowds keep growing, if Journey w/Augeri didn't impress the audience, this would not be the case.

Finally, I never said that I thought a compilation from TBF to present should be done, would sell well, nor that I would be interested in one. I have no desire to buy yet another rehashed Sony compilation of (or including)Perry-era Journey material. And the compilation that I'd make for myself covering the post Greatest Hits years would not include any TBF songs.
