I totally agree. You see that Motely Crue VH1 reunion special? Even Tommy Lee was scared shitless by how bad Mars looks.
Still, Mars prevails. Each nite he goes out and plays his ass off.

Because Journey doesn't have the political clout to get them there.
Remember, they were first eligible in 1995 - when Steve Perry was still in the band, in the middle of the TBF reunion.
So, answer this... why wasn't Journey even nominated during TBF - while Perry was still in the band, had a grammy nomination and what 'appeared' to be a decent comeback album?

; Mick is A-one in my book for attempting the near impossible and succeeding. An inspiration indeed, to everybody.
I agree. Nice post John. It's funny how some singers who don't have great singing voices at all, Tom Petty for example, will probably be able to sing forever...and put out great music as well.JohnH wrote:yak wrote:The_Noble_Cause wrote:yak wrote:If Mick Mars can go out and do what he's doing.....anybody can. I have read that Mick is in a lot pain, but all he does is play guitar. It is still amazing that he is up there and yes he is A-One. But with Perry it's totally different. If your voice is not at the level it once was and you just can't pull off lengthy tours or any concerts at all at the standard you want to then that is another matter entirely. You can't just get up there and tough it out or fake it. Perry is just as big a hero for realizing he can't cut it and bowing out. Has to be one of the reasons.

Let me play Devil's Advocate Noble....maybe that's a BIG regret he has now and if he had to do over, he'd do things differently...who knows.The_Noble_Cause wrote:JohnH wrote: Perry is just as big a hero for realizing he can't cut it and bowing out. Has to be one of the reasons.
Then he should've bowed out with grace and NOT led the guys on by making a reunion album and reneging on tour plans that he never truly had his heart set on to begin with.

Um, no.....(hangs his head in shame).The_Noble_Cause wrote:OpeningAct wrote:I have to admit I don't know NEARLY the background that you guys do on here regarding Perry leaving the band and the dynamics involved between the band members, management and others. It's in the notorious Herbie Herbert interview.
You have read that, right?

I wonder if the guys would ever turn to him again after all that, or if he would help them if they asked.
jrnyman28 wrote:They did ask HH to come back before the interview. He declined claiming he was retired. In the interview he said he did not have the heart for it. He also said that he would make more money than the guys would, even as a partner to Azoff.
But HH is reported to be involved with Soul SirkUS now. That certainly could be a way back in. HH even said he would be glad to be 'partners' with Azoff.
