DOES THIS CD EXIST ANYWHERE???????????????????????

It has been well over three weeks since the release of Journey's Generation CD. I want to know do they really have a new CD??

The town I live in has close to 20,000 people. We have a SUPER Wal Mart that stocks 'almost all CD's.

When Styx released Cyclorama the store had about 5 copies on the Tuesday release date. Big Bang Theory had an entire display for its release. Hell, I even think Arch Allies & Styworld had CD's in on their release date.

This brings me to Generations. I cant get it. I talked to the guy who actually makes the deliveries to Wal Mart on Tuesday morning at 5:30 am. He said he got my note from the Electric's Manager at Wal Mart and the distributer that gets the music for him to deliver to Wal Mart cant get it for me. I can order it off the internet thru them if I like, but I will be charged shipping.

Last weekend my wife went to San Antonio. My ONLY request was a copy of Generations. Her first stop was to Best Buy...... No copies.
Then on her way home she stopped at CD Exchange. They were given one copy the Tuesday Generations came out and told since Journey had just played San Antonio all their fans probably got their copies at the show. That copy sold and they have not received any more copies since.

Charting at 170 is quite a feat when I'm starting to believe that Mellencamp is the only one to ever sing a song about the Heartland!!!!!

Dude, move to another town. It's everywhere. I wish the reason it wasn't in stock was due to popularity, but Britney, Kayne West, and all the other shit gets that title.

Well, if you change your mind, you can purchase it from Wal-mart's website and you don't have to use a credit card. They have a "bill me later" thing where you are sent a bill instead.

I posted about six hours too early. Wal Mart had it out last night. I picked it up after work. They even gave Journey a little display.

I must admit Ive listened to about 7 or 8 of the songs (1 time only) and as of now it receives a BIG thumb waaaayyyyyyy DOWN.

I will give it MANY MANY MANY more spins.

Next to Styx, Journey is TOPS with me.

Steve Perry & Neil Schon are rock gods in my book.

I saw them at Reunion Arena in Dallas back in 1981 or 1982 on their Escape Tour. Loverboy opened up for them. What an AWESOME show!!!!!!

I have seen them twice with Steve A. on lead vocals. I saw them in San Antonio with Foreigner opening. I believed they opened up with Seperate Ways and if I would of shut my eyes I would of NEVER known Steve Perry was not singing. I also saw them in St. Paul on their Main Event tour with Styx.

I have seen Steve Perry solo on his Strange Medicine tour. Short show, but VERY good.

Infinity is by far my favorite Journey album. Escape is my second fav. I do like them and own them all with the exception Dream After Dream.

I thought Remember Me was one of the best songs Journey ever recorded. Arrival was just a fair effort. World Gone Wild was my favorite off of that disc.

I liked Red 13 better than Arrival I just wish it would of been a full CD.

I own two excellent boots from the Escape and Raised On Radio tour.

Finally, I feel the current rendition of Journey is Awesome and does TOTAL justice to the Steve Perry led Journey.

But with that being said they will NEVER be as good as when Steve Perry was at the helm!!!

I am really looking forward to my drive home so I can listen to some more cuts from Generations.

The only thing I have against the current lineup was that when I saw them at the X-Cell Center in St. Paul on The Main Event Tour they all seemed to be going through the motions. Styx blew them completely off the stage. So did REO, and I am not that big of an REO fan. I paid big bucks for my floor seat tickets. Took my four year old daughter, and all the members of Journey outside of Dean didnt seem to want to be there.

I guess we are all entitled to an off night!

When I had seen them two years earlier they were GREAT. I mean AWESOME. It was like Neil and the boys were on a mission.

I also heard their show in San Antonio just before Rita hit was one for the ages. Two people I know went and they both said it was by faaarrrrr the best concert they had ever attended. If it wouldnt of been on a Wednesday night I would of been there also. I am still pissed that I didnt suck it up and go.

My wife both my children and I might head to Houston to see their rescheduled show

I agree completely. I was REALLY disappointed by the Main Event show and setlist. REO was tight and played a great set. Styx made the most opportunities with their time on stage. Journey just seemed ..... blah. Poor setlist, no new material, dropped the ONE song that I most wanted to hear...

The CD is getting better with each spin. I dont have it in front of me, but tracks 1,3,&4 are awesome. I am not real sure if any of them are really radio friendly, but I sure like them.

Track # 7 for sure is radio friendly. The only thing is I am not real sure what type of format or station today plays a white group singing like brothers.
I would swear they sound like the second coming of Boyz To Men on this track. I do like it, but that song sounds about as far from Steve Perry led Journey as I have ever heard.

KTYLM is very radio friendly. I believe it could be played on AC, HOT AC, CHR POP and maybe even CHR R&B. I stated the first time I heard that song that it sounded a little Boyz II Men, in a good way. But I don't think it is all that far removed from anything Perry might have done. Think about his "roots"...Sam Cooke. And Street Talk was a somewhat classic R&B inspired disc. In fact, that is one of the good things about Street Talk, it was different from journey. Unlike FTLOSM which sounded like a return to the Journey sound. but now we have a band that can play different types of music WITHIN the 'confines' of Journey and the Journey sound. it is wide open now!

Ive given Generations exclusive play since last Wednesday. As of now I really dont like it to well. It just does not sound like Journey to me. Neil's guitar playing is excellent. I like tracks 1,3 7,& 12 alot. Tracks 2,4 & 13 are ok. The rest of the CD I just dont like. I will give it a few more spins.

yogi, what about #8 (Out of Harm's Way). Neal's haunting guitar work behind Augeri's chorus, "Keep them all out of... HARM'S WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY". That song grabbed me immediately.

I think you are woefully under rating track # 2.
That, and track 1, are easily the strongest rock songs on the record.
Then again, I like the whole thing (with the exception of tracks 5 & 6).

Yogi- you initially said you were anticipating a "Remember Me' style Journey album. As I warned you, this album (with the exception of "Place in Your Heart" and "Never Too Late") is largely a beast entiriely its own.

I just find the track to be fucking intolerable.
I don't mind Journey branching out and being different.
In fact, I want Augeri's influence to shake things up, but that song is just plain BAD.

I'm hearing ya. I disagree, but I'm feeling your passion about it. It's like Cubby with unconditional allegiance (so cool, btw) to the 3 pre perrys.
You even get into posts where you have to put it in paranthasese as an acknowledgement that you're going outa your way to bash it.

Board wouldn't be the same without your campaign against 5-6.

I will listen to Out Of Harms Way plus other new tracks on my drive home tonight. I TRULY want to REALLY like this CD. It is all I have been listening to since I purchased it last week . I am in my car 2 hours daily. It has been cranked up. So far outside of a few tracks it is a tough listen for me.

Songs like Remember Me, Higher Place, World Gone Wild, plus a few others off of Arrival and all of Red 13 really grabbed me. I thought their new music was GREAT.

Ive seen the current band live twice, and I am kicking myself for missing their San Antonio date.

I want to like this CD. It just seems far far away from Journey. Does that make sense???

No. It doesn't. Many of the tracks on the album are redolent of varying eras from the band's past. For example, the hard edged, "Better Together" is reminiscent of hard rock romps of Journey past such as "Homemade Love" or "Where Were You".
The only completely alien musical terrain explored on this album is the track "Believe" (and even that has some Journey-esque background choruses).

Hell, I feel even "Gone Crazy" has a tinge of Journey flavor to it.
