F*** Arrival is damned good

Postby Rockindeano » Fri Oct 28, 2005 10:01 am

I was copying, errr, transferring Arrival onto CD for a MR Perryloon(she will remain nameless, hence her lynching), and this CD is just great..I always dissed it...No more....I suggest you "normals" go listen to it again...Too good... This was the first step back into rock for the band...you can definitely hear the guitar more than the previous CD...ahem..

I'm sending you a bar of soap for that mouth of yours - LOL
Just kidding.........

I like more vocals than guitar in a song, but that's just me.

Clean the cheese out of your ears, SMB..Neal's guitar is as good sounding as any voice......

Too bad TWIGS doesn't have that type of guitarist.

You're in your normal feisty mood Deano. Of course every member of a band "plays" an integral part of it's sound. Even those Twigs musicians. But then, you knew that already....

I may be a "cheesehead", but on any song or type of music that I like, I prefer to hear more vocals than guitar, except for early Metallica. Then that type of music I love the loud guitar, oh and on some early Van Halen and I guess on some of the 80's Motley Crue.

But for my "cheesy" bands that I like, STYX and Journey, I love the vocals.

Neal is one of the best guitarists out there.

It's good, but it'd be even better with MORE of the un-used Blades/Schon collaborations and less of the kleenex stuff.
Can you imagine if they threw all of the Blades/Schon stuff on there?
It'd be a fucking melodic masterpiece for the ages!
Oh, and I also despise "Live and Breathe" (sorry Steve, but this one sucks).

I agree with you on that one NC...Live and Breathe is the worst Journey song out there.

If I had to ask the guys a question...I would most definitely ask how they could keep the off key "yeah, yeah, yeah" part on the cd. It is awful.

Alas, one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch! The rest of the cd is great!

Arrival still had a little too many ballads for my taste, but the rockers were SOLID rockers! I still say the best and most JourneyISK song from Arrival is To Be Alive Again!

Needless to say, I'm with SMB and Sadie on this. I love the vocals if they're good. I'm not that much of a "screaming rock" guitar fan. I'm a big fan of Loved By You.

Yup, repetitious, monotonous, and mind-numbingly grating.
Sound familiar?
It should.
It's rapidly becoming Augeri's calling card.
First with "Live & Breathe" and now the similarly insipid "Believe".

To each his own. I love Augeri's non-Journey works (Shine, Tall Stories), but thus far, his largely solo endeavors within Journey have been complete and total let downs (for me, anyways).
Glad u enjoy it.

You want my opinion? I thought not. Anyway........... The lyrics on the entire album are sappy, mindless unjourneylike prose. The vocals are lacking something that I can't quite put my finger on. Something vital is missing????????

Livin To Do is probably the most profound song that Journey's ever done, I would say certainly more than anything done in the entire Perry era.
I don't miss the constant she left me boo hoo lyrics Perry was so found of.
