RND - ya want "spin"? Here ya go

Rock'ndeano wrote:No, Perry did not sound great. No, Perry did not sound good. No, Perry did not sound ok. No, Perry did not sound half as good as Augeri. Yes, Perry sounded FUCKING awful.

YOU cannot spin this. Try as you might..

You wanted your hero to have his chance.

First of all, let me say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion about SP.

BUT, let me ask YOU something:

How did YOU feel and sound the next day after seeing your favoirite band or team in concert or at the ball park, all the while screaming your HEAD OFF for 2 to 3 hours?

Were you able to speak with a clear voice? Or loudly?

If the answer's "No", well, just apply that to Steve....who did that for a FEW DAYS....

....and IMO that's why he sounded the way he did.

And BESIDES that - I thought it was amazing that he got up and SANG, knowing his voice was "not to his standards" - which is "Perfectionism" X 1,000.......

So, GIVE HIM A BREAK!! It seems he finally gave HIMSELF one - he just had FUN!

Cut the baloney.
You were extenuating his ragged vocals the day prior, as well.
Saying that he lowered notes not to obscure the fact that he has all the range of my pet goldfish, but rather in a deliberate artistic decision to emulate Neal's guitar.
You also said he hit a high note perfectly during the portion of the song that goes "Oh, the movie never ends; it goes on and on and on..."

Both were lies.
He sucked on both occasions.

NEXT....

I said he sang the NOTES OF NEAL'S GUITAR SOLO......which is a variation of the melody....

I don't lie.

yep, they are. I used to love the guy. His personal character is what turned me off. His declining voice I have no problem with..it happens. I am not about opinions. To me, opinions are spin, homerism, and more spin. I see what camp you are in..and that's fine..They need the help over there.

BUT, let me ask YOU something:

I can tell you, if I get all beered up and go to a NHL game, or a College Football game, I am all over the opposing players. I can definitely guarantee you, I have a much louder voice than Perry does..I can also tell you, I DO scream and yell til I'm raw...I can also say that Perry was doing neither...Here is a guy who is afraid of his own shadow, afraid of the public..Perry wouldn't want to draw more attention to himself than there already was(Fox cameras) He was NOT yelling, was NOT screaming....Nice try though..

-especially if he already promised he would sing the song if the palehose won the World Series. he wouldn't rasp his pipes anymore than they already are.

....and IMO that's why he sounded the way he did.

And I hear more spinning noises.......

His fucking favorite teams are the Giants and Dodgers, if we might be allowed the luxury of surmising as much from interviews and sightings of him at Chavez Ravine. Methinks he was not raw from screaming for the black sox.

He isn't a fan of the Dodgers..I mean, who the Hell would be? He was at Chavez Ravine watching the Giants..

I'm surprised he used the phrase, "NL." gave him some credibility. I doubt not many people here would know what the "black sox" reference means, 13. I know our esteemed "sports writer" in Boston knows either.

Oh, that's right Dean. he was at Dodger stad but watching the Giants...he wouldn't have cause to scream and yell for Knuckles Cicotte and the black socks.

It's not Boston where celebs hitch their wagons to teams for a little face time (cough Afleck!!Cough).

Don't worry about the Red Sox anymore...They are done...

Again, waiting for some of these Palehose "fans" to step up and explain the beauty and grandeur of the Black Socks. What exactly is it Sox fans?

I do....and I've done the same thing....and THEN had to get up and be the Cantor for Mass on Sunday.....talk about cringe-inducing.

Oh, and one more thing.....

The human voice is built around abdominal muscles and tendons: it takes just as much conditioning to get a VOICE in shape as it does to get an athlete's body in shape...

And by the looks of things.....Steve has been hanging out in his La-Z-Boy....nothing wrong with that; he's entitled. He thought that this whole thing was a "joke", according to a Chicago reporter.

Just giving you some REAL-LIFE examples of what happens to the human voice; that's all....

You should go work for the Bush administration..You are good at spinning; they could sure use you right about now!

Firstly, you heaped excuses for Stevie boy because you said he was yelling and screaming. I refuted that garbage. So you wryly sprinkle in the singer vs. the non singer. Fact is, he NO longer has it. Never will again. Why can't you people understand this, and live with this? It's not a bad thing to lose your voice..it happens with maturity.

You don't have to have been a rock star to be cognizant of the fact that Perry is toast.
The only requisite is having functional ears and I am pretty sure Deano has those.

I'm not going to mince words or start a war on this topic, but in my opinion Perry sounded terrible and I can see why he doesn't want to go sing as a guest with Journey anymore, the man just doesn't have it anymore.

As for his attitude, I'm beginning to question after reading the interview posted in another thread with Herbie

The term "Black Sox" Refers to the 1919 World series where some of the White Sox players threw the series to the Reds to make gamblers and themselves rich....These players were banned from Baseball (one player was Shoeless Joe Jackson)...

That Scandal was 86 years ago....That was a whole different era and organization...Today's White Sox had nothing to do with that...

With the history of baseball, if I was a betting person (LOL) I would take the Chicago Cubs for the winners of the 2006 World Series. In fact, when I go to Vegas next year, I'll put money on them.

And just think, you all read it here first
