Yes, Please...
Well, it's very simple. Sony didn't want the Gregg/Jonathan/Chalfant lineup. They wanted the classic lineup. When the chips fell, Journey agreed and Sony got what they wanted. Not only did Journey turn their backs on both Gregg and Kevin, but at the same time they "replaced" Herbie and Abraxas Pool fell apart.
I think that left a very bad impression on Gregg...not just for Journey but also dealing with labels and being in rock bands as apposed to being solo. So he sort of had a "screw the politics...They can do what they want and I'll do what I want." Why would he want to get involved in all of the political goings on with Perry and Neal and Herbie and the fans...when he really doesn't have to?
As for Andrew's comment about 'weighing their options'. I don't know if this is why Andrew said it, but it's how I feel too. 2006 is a year where NOTHING Journey seems to be planned. So, they have to decide what their next step is...or is it over?
So, what is their best option? Continue doing solos and things like "Soul Sirkus" and let go of Journey? Wait for Perry? Record a new CD? Tour?
I doubt that ANYTHING for Journey's future has really been decided. In the end, IMO, when none of their outside projects make much money, they'll try to get back together and schedule another Journey tour. But, THEY need to decide.
