You Better Wait had more writers than 39 flavors has ice cream, how could Perry have claimed enough ownership to have truly "felt" that song?

Which John Waite songs do you want to know about? It looks like he co-write some and the other songs were written by other people.

Thanks, look at Figure In a Landscape if you can find credits on the net. I'll have to look at the booklet when I get home. Some great songs by Waite like Masterpiece of Loneliness (sounds like Perry's life) and by outside writers like Fly and Everytime You Come Around. I was able to find Temple Bar credits, only three of ten written by outsiders I admit, but thats not far from barely more than half. I will say even though he uses songs by others at times, I think Waite is a great lyricist, a far better songwriter than I think there's evidence (imo) of Perry being. Talking solo here-- solo-written, w/co-writers etc.

Why in the Hell are we, err, you guys talking about that Euro-fag, Waite. He sucks.
usedtobadnews61 wrote:Nice try........He wrote or cowrote 9 of 11 for FIAL and 7 of 10 for TB
usedtobadnews61 wrote:My question is......speaking of cornfields..........will Perry go back into his? Or will he continue to be visable like he has the past couple years with Monster and Live Journey DVD cameo's?
Discuss....

Yeah, thats what I found for TB but I thought there were at least a couple more on Figure, which is a good album, pretty mellow mostly, but some good stuff.
However, I think it makes the point that although he, like Perry, won't sing something he doesn't feel; he, unlike Perry, doesn't always have to have a writing credit in order to be able to feel them. Maybe I'm cynical when it comes to Perry, but why shouldn't Journey fans be? I think it has more to do with Perry's wallet and ego than it does with his "feeling" what he sings.

It could be that he always demanded a credit or maybe by changing a bit here and there, some writers knew they would get a song on a Journey/Steve Perry record/CD and thereby get a good payday.

Journey didn't use any outside writers...It was mostly, Jon, Neal and Perry. So the payday theory really doesn't play..
usedtobadnews61 wrote:I don't get it then......Neal and Jon come across as such hard asses now and they let Perry screw them on writing credits?
Very strange......

NEVER knock John Waite thank you.

Someone missed up big if Perry became a partner equal to Neal.
Perry's usurpment of power is chronicled by Journey creator Herbie Herbert in this revealing interview. http://members.cox.net/mrcarty/
Happy Reading.

Eh, fuck him.

Please bear with me as I do my best to decipher the nonsensical fragmentary squawking above.
I, personally, choose to believe Herbie Herbert because he is a straight shooter and all of his interviews reflect that. In the interview in question he bashes not only Perry, but Jon, Ross, Neal, Chalfant and even Augeri..pretty much everyone gets slightly singed except for Rolie. Again, this is what I choose to believe. Nobody is forcing you to believe what Herbie says.
Why are you so threatened by this interview?

He was for a period....during that time period..Perry was a drug hustler, or that he truly was a stupid as Herbert made him out to be (he made out pretty good for someone described as being "FOB").

Don't think the drugs were true. I believe Perry took care of his pipes, BUT, Perry is definitely NOT educated. Listen to him speak in the BTM special. "I says, go out with......" "I says?" WTF?
He also said Jon Cain was a motherfucker...Have to take him at his word I guess.
I can't wait for Spanks' book to come out. A tell all.
