Throw it away...

Postby Rockindeano » Fri Nov 18, 2005 9:32 am

Well, being the honest guy that I am...I said I would not buy the DVD/CD...
I said to buy a completely edited concert was fake, etc...

I WAS WRONG

I put that thing in, and I have to say it is the finest sounding concert I have ever laid ears on. Not only is Steve Perry super-human on this....You can hear every instrument proudly..especially Valory and Smith..My God, those drum fills..

Anyway, I have two questions..

1) I am going to assume this will get a lot more promotion over Generations, and having said that, I think this is a no brainer for platinum status. Now with a CD/DVD combo, is a million the benchmark or 500,000 for platinum? Will it go platinum?

2) And my follow up.....Who here will either NEVER break out GH Live again, or just throw that piece of shit away?

I cannot sell this enough. Yeah I paid 17.99 at Best Buy(13, I told the girl that a friend, Red13 said you would match the online price. she said Red13 is wrong).....

This fucker will stay in my car for a long time..I just cannot tell you all enough just how good the music on hear sounds..

EXCELLENT JOB STEVE PERRY!!!!!! PHENOMINAL.

Now don't go hibernate because we are into winter...get your ass over there and make a Frontiers AND Raised on Radio DVD/CD combo...

Yes, very easily. I have no doubt.

I just got done listening to the CD 9I have not watched the DVD yet) and I must say it is amazing. I never listen to GHL anyway, but there is DEFINATELY no reason to now! I am not even sure I will listen to Captured again as I have never liked the fade in's and out's. But this CD is phenominal. It is a nice refresher as I had almost forgotten why I loved Journey in the first place. Now a lot of people are talking about Mother, Father on this CD...I am not that fond of it. Somehting about Perry's voice in the live version loses it's warmth or depth. Other than that...stellar performance. And another thing I love, is how many Escape songs Journey committed to for the tour. They did well on the Generations tour, but up til that, Journey had forgotten what it means to PUSH a CD live!

As for the going platinum...yes, this will. It better. And I believe it only needs to sell 250,000 because it is a 2-disc set.

No Davey..I believe it is 500k for dvd/cd's..does not matter. This is the best sound I have ever heard.

This might go 3x platinum...

Sherie, why don't you abandon your horse and buggy, and rent a fucking car, and go buy the damned thing...Jesus, are you in Somalia, or what?

I have to keep jocking Perry..Dude rules here..Both in his performance and his producing..

Steve Perry singing this well, flatout gives me goosebumps..

My ex who I live with didn't believe my "tale of the CD." She has heard it, and now says, "that is not real."

She can kiss my ass!

Deano - Nice posts! You should have seen Cyndy & I at Best Buy hassling the employees there because they couldn't find the freakin thing to sell it to us. After we made them search their whole store, they found it in the back room. Then they tried to charge us $17.99 sticker price, but we showed them it was $11.99 on line and they had to give it to us at the lower rate. What an ordeal just to buy a DVD. But so worth it. I've seen that concert a zillion times and it still made me cry watching the new DVD. Gonna take it my bros this weekend to watch on the big screen. :D

Sugar, if I don't let my daughter give it to me it'll hurt her feelings. I'm torn though, really struggling with it. Since I just have to see it on her big screen with surround sound for the first time, I'd better wait until she gives it to me. :(

Well, considering that the closest Best Buy is about an hour away, I decided to order my copy of the Escape Concert from their website. With tax and shipping, it cost me just a bit over $14. Not to shabby of a price! By hearing Deano's comments about the DVD, I have no doubt that I will not be disappointed with it!

Music Video Longform

Gold
Quantity: 50,000 units
Requirements: *Defined as a title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution

Platinum
Quantity: 100,000 units
Requirements: *Defined as a title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution.

Multi-Platinum
Quantity: 200,000 units
Requirements: *Defined as a title that has not been theatrically released prior to distribution.

I don't see any info on multi-disc sets yet. But on multi-disc CDs it does divide by the total of discs in the package. Maybe the fact that this is one of each changes everything.

Even though it REALLY is all about the voice for me, I have to admit that I think Perry is just sexy as all get out. More so in the ROR era, but Escape is good too, hell, it's all good.

Dave's right. Music dvd's have a lower # standard for certifications.... 50k gold as opposed to 500 k for a cd...
I do wonder about it being accompanied by a cd.

I will certainly play GHL at least 100 more times during my lifetime. You can't forget that it's got some '83 live material as well. The live After The Fall on GHL is one of my most treasured official Journey live cuts.

That said, this dvd Perry did an amazing job producing and the remasterer he picked was the right guy fo the job.
Keep On Runnin' is my show-stopper. Dead or Alive, too.

One thing is, I wish Perry had bothered to wear underwear. is he stuffing?
