Perry Solo/ Journey???????

Which do you listen to more often, Perry solo or Perry/Journey?

Perry's GH=5 is played most, second to Essentials. GH+5 is Perry touching on all extremes in range and seeming to sing of innermost thoughts. Like "Melody" being his great love and maybe "Missing You" being a song for his fans. I love FTLOSM but I wish it could get remastered and leave out the heavy breathing. It's too distracting, unless you listen with ear buds and pretend he's in the room with you, singing and breathing in your ear.

On tour he would introduce the song as being about Sherry. I have a boot where he mentions returning home and finding a voice mail from a certain *someone*. Everyone in the audience starts guessing and screaming out names. Some shout "Neal!" Perry divulges that it was Sherry and says he decided not call her back, and endure that platonic non-romantic "bullshit" (his word, not mine). He then states how as he listened to her voice mail he began to miss her. Seamless segue into song.

I love She's Mine! I think it's the "grrrrooowwlll" near the end. He is definitely sensuous, erotic and sexy all rolled into one in this song. I know it's his voice. What a voice! I love men with voices like that. Raspy and sexy. It makes you feel he's just going to just fight that guy while he's protecting his woman.

I love..."Yoooouuu" have her under your spell. (this might be wrong)

I love ...Don't show your face...no no no no..." a girl could get easily enthrralled by him if you allow yourself to. He's just magic on this song.

Was there a video; caused I'd even like a bootleg? Not really.

And I don't care what you all say. I don't care how much it did or didn't sale. It's a sexy song.

I collect antiques and hit the thrift shops a lot. Last week we found an Altec 710 tuner for $20. and a set of Vifa speakers for $4 so I've been enjoying Perry like never before. I'm not going to say what I was using before as I'm ashamed. Now the heavy breathing is more pronounced on FTLOSM.

I listen to Journey/Steve more simply because there is more material. I usually rotate the Journey cds with FTLOSM, but I throw Street Talk in there once in a while too.


TNC, I have that boot. I also have the Missing You writing session boot. In it Tim Miner says something to Steve about the lyrics being about the woman in the song finding out something bad from his past, and then Steve came up with the "the secret's not worth keeping". That made me wonder what secret Sherrie found out about, if it was indeed based on real life experiences.

I have been away for a while....If I am listening to Journey, lately I listen to post-Perry Journey. Red 13 gets a LOT of play and Generations gets quite a bit too. When I am not listening to those, I tend to listen to something else completely...

But because of the Escape Live CD I say"Welcome back Perry".

I hardly hear the breathing in FTLOSM anymore, I'm too wrapped up in the lyrics, melody and vocal performance. I don't know why he chose to leave that in, unless it was to make the cd more intimate and realistic. Regardless, it's still my alltime favorite Perry song.

I haven't listened to EITHER in years. I'd rather listen to newish music then constantly repeat songs from up to 30yrs ago. That's what some people say when they complain about RADIO!

Maybe he goes a tad overboard with it, but it's never bugged me.

En route to gigs, I always warm up with Perry's GH+5 and then maybe The Outfield or something a little more challenging range-wise. Mostly I am listening to mix CDs of stuff off of I-Tunes. Recently have been on a nostalgic King Diamond kick (note the avatar!). Before that it was John Denver's Greatest Hits preceeded by a fair amount of Judas Priest.

I was so excited about viewing the Houston DVD that I ignored the CD until yesterday. Took it on a road trip and I have to agree with what someone said in another thread. I will be retiring my "Journey Greatest Hits Live CD" for the new one. Fabulous!!

I'm sorry HOTS, all I meant by the "I can't help it either" is that I can't help loving FTLOSM, breathing and all. I wasn't even thinking about The Girl Can't Help It. But I love that song too.

The album, GH+5 is the best example of Perry's overall greatness. The production is so exact and the extremes of his range are so evident with this album. JMHO! His being a perfectionist at it's most evident.

I play Essentials a lot because I can cut to the chase with it and enjoy all the best. I hit replay most often for "Somethin To Hide" as it's like a caffeine kick.

I think they are very good.
I don't see any end in sight for Perry plundering the Journey vaults to finally release archived stuff onto dvd.

Interesting stuff. Ever run out of warm-up time and have to hit the stage cold? If so, how bad did it go (if at all)?

It's nostalgic for everyone.; band and fans. I like to imagine how it would feel there in the audience watching and he's given back what people thought they had forgotten and knew would never see again. I suppose that is his legacy to us; well, the band's legacy. I also was hoping that the band would show a little appreciation for all this work it took to get it into the stores. But..whatever, it's something to always remember.

Jeremey! Do you do some of Perry's solo work or just Journey? Sorry! I don't remember if you mentioned this in any of your previous posts.

Also, have you noticed a larger attendence since Journey and Perry have been in the spotlight of late with the W Series and the new Escape dvd?
