Putting aside any pre thoughts you have about them, this cd rocks and kicks ass. Michael Sweet has one of the best rock voices if you care about actyal singing and screaming while carrting a tune.

I wouldn't have ranked the first two Genesis live albums ahead of "Three Sides Live" and "The Way We Walk." What was Classic Rock mag thinking?

'Rush In Rio' pretty much sealed the deal for me, particularly in DVD format.

I know those others you all have mentioned have been fantastic live albums, but Rush is in my blood through and through - I'm too biased to pick otherwise.

Personally, my favorite is Live In Madison Square Garden - Springsteen, and though it's on the new side, Live In Buffalo - Goo Goo Dolls is a close second.

I've voted for Rush out of the choices given - but the best live band for me was a British group called FM. They'd win hands down every time!!!!

Close behind would be Def Leppard, then Thunder, then Richie Sambora (solo!! awesome!!)

hi, i'm new here, how is everyone?

one live lp that always gets overlooked is SLADE ALIVE from the early 70's. becoz they were a glam rock band, and dressed up a little, and also never took things too seriously, people tend to dismiss them.
the live album came before all the success they had, and they do an incredible version of born to be wild on it too.

i think it's just fantastic.

i agree where is made in japan?

I went for Live and Dangerous but I gotta say, I prefer Alive II to Alive anyway... Captured has to be up there. Looking to something more recent (why do we always go for old stuff when talking about the greats?) I love Live at the Gods by Harem Scarem. One of my fav bands so maybe very biased though, also Live and More by Fair Warning is a great album

KISS Alive and Skynyrd's One More For The Road tied for best but Skynyrd wasn't an option so I obviously voted for KISS.

Good call.
Also WASP - Live...in the Raw.

The CD label on my copy says 'Live....in the Rain'

I really must take a listen to this Pretty Maids album. I've got all the other albums (I think) but I never got around to listen/buy this one. This is the umpteenth time I hear good things about this album.

My choice would be: Rainbow - On Stage and Whitesnake - Live In The Heart Of The City.

Yes!!!! Rainbow on stage - followed by Made In Japan = Deep Purple - followed by Asia live in Moscow....

Ditto - Rush in Rio is a phenomenal live DVD.

However, of those listed I would probably go for UFO - Strangers in the Night. Not that I think it is *currently* the best live album, but in its day (mid 70's) it was just so far ahead of any other live recording up to that point and for years was held up as the standard against which all live albums were judged. And it still stacks up well against most.
