Maybe that's why the term "new guy" was in sarcasm-indicating quotations, you gelatinous boob. The quotations purposely denoted "facetiousness" because, as I already explained, though Augeri has been a full fledged member of the band for 8 years, he is still routinely referred to by casual audiences and critics alike as "the new guy". That is why I put the term "new guy" in quotations, because, as everyone here knows, contrary to general perception, Augeri really isn't "new". It was an ironic reference to how the majority of people still continue to view and misnomer Augeri.
Nothing more.

LAWoman wrote:to perpetuate that concept for some reason

Nobody was perpetutating anything you myopic protoplasm. The deliberate use of the term "new guy" was an obvious tongue in cheek reference to how Augeri is still wrongly perceived by the public at large.
-Not by me or anyone else here.

LAWoman wrote:No, of course, not--you were just making conversation, I'm sure.

If you're asserting that I am here for any underlying motive besides disussing Journey with fellow Journey fans, I assure you you're woefully mistaken. Besides, just who are you to impugn my Journey loyalty anyways?
I contribute here regularly, you don't contribute at all.

Let's settle this...
Is anyone else here having the same continual problems with this thread that LAWoman seems to be having?

(I'd be greatly suprised if anyone does.)

Yeah, TNC, I have the same problems.

Just kidding. It really is a silly argument about nothing. I think she likes pushing your buttons. You do give her great reactions! Kind of like how OA used to do with Deano.

I certainly have no problem with it. I think it's one of our more interesting threads. I always just assumed you guys had followed the story from the beginning. I was really surprised that you only found out around the same time I did.

I heard about it on the classic rock station here just before the Armageddon soundtrack came out.

They played a snippet of Remember Me and I was sold.

What surprises me is that Barb is engaging in a thread about someone other than Neal! She usually only gets defensive about Neal...

Face it Barb, the casual listener and MOST newspapers (critics or reviews) still refer to Steve as "the new guy" because he is not Perry. TNC said "the new guy" because that is how Steve is erroneously referred to.

FURTHERMORE, the basis of the thread also goes back to how "we' found out that Steve (actually) was the new guy. The thread is about the past...about a time when Steve WAS THE NEW GUY.

I read it in Metal Edge, actually. When they said "former Tyketto singer" I was surprised because all I ever heard from them was their song "Forever Young" and I thought, that guy doesn't sound anything like Steve Perry. Didn't realize they had two singers. Then I heard "Remember Me" on the radio and liked it. However, I still think Kevin Chalfant sounds more like Perry.

Yep, Chalfont probly DOES sound more like Perry. So would've Hugo. Maybe Geoff Tate. Dave Bickler. Hell there's a poster here who might sound more like Perry than any of these guys (Hunsicker). And who CARES b/c Augeri is rocking that frontman's spot now like nobody's business. Neal's guitar working with Augeri's voice? Magic to me.

He's wasting his time with whats left of Journey. If he goes solo, he will maybe do much better with the dubious honor or being Journey's latest frontman. jmho

I don't see how Augeri is "wasting his time".
The band still tours really well.
Besides, prior to joining Journey Augeri had sworn off the music biz entiriely.
What do you think more fits the definition of "wasting time"
Screwing in lightbulbs for the GAP or being a showman to thousands of people nightly?
The answer is obvious.
HOTS-get a clue.
