Gayest Journey Song that you secretly really like?

I love the sax...I think it's one of the greatest instruments out there. It actually fits in the song "Positive Touch" perfectly...Because "Positive Touch" doesn't sound like a Journey song! On Street Talk, the track would have been completely acceptable. But come on, you've got Neal Fucking Schon sitting back playing rhythm guitar on a Journey track...Need I say more?

Contrary to what you think, that wasn't even a remotely half-decent reply and furthermore, People and Place (along with Precious Time) are two of Journey's best and most unconventional rockers.

I could hear it now..

Dean, that is downright mean, and unfair!

Well, no, but it is stupid..I just had to prove a point. O yeah, the song O Sherrie blows.

Precious Time is a brilliant song.
I love the Jingo riff at the end.

I also like Neal's voice on People and Places.

Don't forget two great songs with "sax appeal" - Foreigner's Urgent and Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.

By forum consensus, "All That Really Matters" (unbeknownst to me) is apparently full blown queer ass.
Add that to my list of gay Journey songs I like.

Well, I listened to "All That Really Matters"
I rightfully think it deserves the accolation
It's seriously homosexual and it
Would be right at home in a techo gaydisco with those swedish guys
from Saturday Night Live....

Fair enough.
However, I think alot of Journey's music from the synthesizer-heavy Frontiers/ROR period sounds dated. If you can look, or hear, rather, beyond that, I think you will find a Cain/Schon effort as solid as any.

Can't say I disagree with that. Although "accolation" is not a word. Surprised TNC didn't pick that up.

By the way Greggie, the song "Never" you refer to is by a group called Moving Pictures. The song was on the Footloose soundtrack. They had a top 40 hit called "What About Me" which I haven't heard in a long time. It originally hit in 1981 but I heard it on the radio for a short time in 1990. All I can remember is that the chorus went, "what about me, it isn't fair..."

Not only that, but I feel sorry for Jon:

Singing lead for once, and the Steve comes in - on BACKGROUND - and almost blows him away:

"All that really MAH - TAAAAAAAAAAAAHS..."

I've had all I can take
now I want my share
Can't you see
I want to live
but you just take more than you give...

(I think)

I loved that song and it did have a 2nd run at the charts but I do not remember what sparked it. Much like how Benny Mardones got a 2nd shot with "Into The Night".

I don't hear Steve anywhere on this track. Not background vocals- Nothing. I hate to say this, but I really think you're prone to hearing things that aren't really there. For example, take a look at your description of Perry's mangled Sox locker room performance...

sngrchk04 wrote: Oh and BTW....when he sang it in the locker room, he DID sing it in its original key, hitting the highest note on "movie":

"Oh the MOV-IE never ends; it goes on and on..." etc.

I think he was able to hit it because of the noise level - he really had to project to be heard above the party.

That's total lunacy, as well. Perry wasn't even audible, and what little was audible sounded like total and unequivocal chaffed ass.
